Gnus ignores exit value of `sendmail-program'

I recently updated my TMDA (http://tmda.sourceforge.net/)
installation. Due to changes in TMDA and an ancient Exim
misconfiguration, Exim thought TMDA was attempting an illegal relay,
refused the connection, and the messages got dropped on the floor.
Nothing hugely important---but by the time I realized that they
weren't being sent out, I was doing usenet and Gnus had recycled all
the buffers. :-(
I accused TMDA:

tmda> (/tmp/emptyfile), chmod 755, and in your .gnus:
tmda> (setq sendmail-program "/tmp/emptyfile")
tmda> Then try sending some messages and watch them happily hit
tmda> the bit-bucket.
tmda> Most other MUAs handle this situation correctly (VM, Pine,
tmda> mutt, mailx, etc.).
So I'm reporting it.

* XEmacs 21.4.8 "Honest Recruiter (Windows [2])" is released.
"Honest Recruiter" is the eighth in the OXYMORON series.
XEmacs 21.4.8 "Honest Recruiter (Windows [2])" is the fourth in a series of
MS-Windows focused releases of XEmacs. The intent of this release
series is to provide source and binary distributions of the XEmacs
21.4.x series with any additional fixes or enhancements necessary to
provide a pleasurable editing experience on the MS-Windows platform.
Source is available via cvs at cvs.xemacs.org. This release has the
release tag r21-4-8-2-windows and the most current snapshot will always
have the tag 21-4-windows.
The binaries for both cygwin and native MS-Windows are available via
the XEmacs netinstaller which can be found at
http://www.xemacs.org/Download/win32/setup.exe This version of the
installer is 1.2.2.11.2.10.
Please note that if you are upgrading from 21.4.8 you may need to
uninstall the xemacs binaries before re-installing.

find-function vs. Windows paths

One more while I'm at it. On Windows, when I do find-function, I often get
messages like this one:
The library "f:\xemacs\xemacs-21.4-release\lisp\replace" is not in the path.
I guess that's the place that the files lived when XEmacs was
built/dumped(?), but it's not the place they live on my system.
(find-library "replace" nil 'insert) =>
"c:\Program Files\XEmacs\XEmacs-21.4.6\lisp\replace.el"
Is this a bug or is this somehow my fault?

point jumps when switching focus between frames

Howdy,
I've noticed this behavior for a long time but just finally managed to
figure out how to reproduce it consistently:
1. Open a second frame (C-x 5 2)
2. Note the location of point in the non-active frame
3. Highlight a region of text
4. M-w to copy the region. There is a short delay while that copy
is happening. During that delay, move your mouse over the
non-active frame (and click it if your window manager requires
it) to give it focus. Voila, point moves in the window that you
switch to.
It looks like most of the time, the new location of point in frame 2
is the place point was in frame 1 before pressing M-w. So I guess
there's some kind of "trying to set point back to where it was before
the operation started" that goes wrong and assumes that it should work
in the current frame. I haven't looked into the code yet to see
what's happening but figured I'd send this in and see if it was a
known bug or not.

Dear Bug Team!
While using XEmacs on my NT, I find that, very typically, when a the
frame is created or redrawn, the toolbar or buffer tabs (or both) will
not be redrawn until I do something in the frame (even as simple as
moving the mouse inside the frame). This occurs at startup, in Gnus,
in VM, and probably anything that creates a frame with a toolbar.
This doesn't happen 100% of the time, but it's probably somewhere in
the 75%-90% range for me (it goes down to ~20% if I turn off buffer
tabs). I've seen this behaviour going back to early 21.4 releases.
It's annoying, but it doesn't seem to impact anything. Do others see
this?

Dear Bug Team!
I am trying out the clearcase package. Following the instruction, the
initialization time of xemacs is very slow. When removing the
clearcase support, everytihng seems to be much faster.
Also, I have some other stuff:
1) On startup, clearcase creates a buffer named:
"*clearcase-lsregion". Looking at the buffer, I see the following
"Process lsregion kill".
2) Now, when i am trying to open a clearcase file, the clearcase menu
does not show automatically as it suppose to
3) I run clearcase-integrate manually, and it generates the following
message: (error/warning) Error in process filter: (error Spurious
communication from process cleartool, see buffer *spurious*). Looking
att the *spurious* buffer: It tells me: Usage: pwd
Taking that, I am considering going back to the previous clearcase
package i had: vc-custom.el by Chris Felaco and vc-hooks.el by Eric
S. Raymond
Any idea how to proceed?

I won't insist on adding it. If xemacs.org doesn't want to distribute
non-GPL elisp code I think a "non-free" XEmacs package repository
could be useful, similar to non-free Debian packages.
Such a repository may encourage people to re-implement the software
under GPL, which would be what I'd like to see eventually.
