Finally, production quality SUMO tarball. 25 years, 9 months

It probably does not whether it compensates for the loss of Art Bell, but I am please to announce that due to Steve's rebuilding work there are now no packages left with obvious errors (MD5 failures etc). Therefore it is a pleasure to announce a fully populated sumo tarball with all the latest in XEmacs elisp technology. Currently these are available as http://www.math.ethz.ch/~vroonhof/emacs/xemacs-sumo-19981014.README http://www.math.ethz.ch/~vroonhof/emacs/xemacs-sumo-19981014.tar.gz and soon (probably) as ftp://ftp.xemacs.org/pub/xemacs/packages/xemacs-sumo-19981014.README ftp://ftp.xemacs.org/pub/xemacs/packages/xemacs-sumo-19981014.tar.gz Here is ya old readme ============ This is the README file describing the XEmacs SUMO package tarball. You can generally find it under the name xemacs-sumo-<date>.tar.gz. Where <date> is the ISO style date of creation. The current tarball is named: xemacs-sumo-19981014.tar.gz The SUMO package tarball is intended for those who have more bandwidth and disk space than time to figure out which packages they need. It includes almost all XEmacs packages in their version at time of creation. The packages have been put in the directory structure recommend for XEmacs packages. For convenience of use with XEmacs binary distributions the SUMO tarball contains these with a 'lib/xemacs' prefix[1]. In particular it contains lib/xemacs/site-packages Put packages that are not official XEmacs packages here. (Empty). lib/xemacs/mule-packages All packages related to the operation of a MULE enabled XEmacs. Non MULE XEmacsen do not use them. lib/xemacs/xemacs-packages (Almost) all current official XEmacs packages that are not MULE related. lib/xemacs/xemacs-packages/etc/sumo/README This README. [1] Note for Windows users. The XEmacs for W9x/NT needs a slightly different location. It might be needed to move the *-packages directories after unpacking the tarball. windows 95 binary kit 25 years, 9 months

I have just joined xemacs-beta and xemacs-nt. Currently I am using xemacs 19.11 on HPUX and would like to try xemacs under windows 95. I don't have a visual c++ compiler, are any relatively stable binary kits available. I have heavily amended tpu-edt and tpu-extras under 19.11 and would like to test them out and compare them with the current xemacs versions. The tpu enhancements could then be made available for a future xemacs release. Can anyone help? Dave Hollingdale
