Autoload error: flyspell-mode-map 25 years, 7 months

After updating several binary packages I get the following autoload error: (1) (warning/warning) Autoload error in: /opt/src/packages/lisp/text-modes/auto-autoloads: Symbol's value as variable is void: flyspell-mode-map I have never used flyspell-mode. --Marcus

language-environment and md5sum of packages 25 years, 7 months

I noticed that after I did (set-language-environment 'japanese), package-get always failed due to md5sum mismatch. After I reset the language environment to English or ASCII, everything goes well. For example, (with-temp-buffer (insert-file-contents-internal "/var/tmp/xemacs-devel-1.19-pkg.tar.gz") (md5 (current-buffer))) returns "1a9a1d467ae39ce1e93f5fd238112b3e" with English environment, and "08f7f4f0e547914cfb1a8968567140ae" with Japanese environment. I guess 'insert-file-contents-internal' does code conversion, but I didn't confirmed so far. [21.0][Cygwin32] mail issues 25 years, 7 months

Okie, so now i've XEmacs in cygwin32, all packages seems to load well , but i still got some problem on the mail part (vm and may be Gnus also): Here is the configuration, i used to have (mail on a pop3 server) :: - popmail (a fetchmail-like program) + procamil to split mail into 2 folder (one for raw mail, the other for mailing lists) Then i did have Gnus to read the mailing lists and have vm configured for the raw mail. For the mail sending part, i just relied on the local sendmail which just redirect any input to the pop3 server (dumb redirect). So now, i did got xemacs up, popmail compiled and working, procmail co,piled but buggy (procmail jut flush out the input spool file, dunno why, gotta debug). But i was wondering how i may send email ( since those dumb NT computer don't have sendmail or such). what i'd like to do is to send mail using pop3 and receive using local spool file. is it possible, and how ? any help appreciated... [somewhat offtopic] quesion on shell output redirection 25 years, 7 months

I hope there's someone on this list who can easily answer this question off the top of their head. I'm thinking about re-writing the parsing in pcl-cvs to parse stdout and stderr simultaneously, rather than separately. I think this would make it much more robust. Anyway the question is, if I redirect stdout and stderr as follows (in /bin/sh): % some_command > output.txt 2>&1 am I guaranteed that output to stdout and stderr by the program is synchronized? Do the two output streams share the same buffer? I think so, but would like to be certain before undertaking a change to pcl-cvs. thanks greg

Xemacs-98 does not startup within physical window 25 years, 7 months

Hi, I am using the XEmacs-install-981009.EXE "Poitou" (XEmacs 21.0-b57) build provided by Mr Charles G Waldman on a Compaq Armada 7710MT portable configured to run at 800x600 without 'panning' support (Logical desktop has same size as physical desktop) running win98. However, the minor problem I am reporting has been present in previous builds. I am starting Xemacs without any command line font or geometry settings using the default "C:\Program Files\XEmacs\XEmacs-21.0\i386-pc-win32\runemacs.exe" icon that has been set up by the installer. When I start Xemacs, it uses more room than physically available: the lower part, including status line and message buffer are not visible. I have to downsize the window by lowering the upper limit, move the resulting smaller window upwards by dragging it with the title bar. This is a minor inconvenience but it should be avoided in the official release, so I thougth I'd let you know. Guido.
