Compiling with recent gcc 3.3 snapshots

Has anyone been successful compiling 21.5.12 using the prerelease recent
snapshots of gcc (3.3)? I can compile fine with 3.2.3 (release) and 3.3-pch
(2002-12-05), but recent 3.3 snapshots (e.g 2003-05-05) breakdown after a
number of "inline code fails to return" warnings.
I am wondering whether it is worth recompiling an earlier snapshot. There
are arcane reasons for wanting a 3.3 compiler as my primary one. I am using
an Apple OS X 10.2.6 machine, and 3.2.3 doesn't understand the
Apple-specific directives. 3.3-pch does understand, and XEmacs compiled
with that branch (since folded into the mainline) is the most stable
compared to 3.1 and 3.2.3.

When trying to compile xemacs-21.5.12 under latest cygwin-1.3.22-1 I get

Dear Bug Team!
When running gnuserv/gnuclient on Cygwin, gnuclient dies after a short
while and then takes gnuserv with it. After investigating the
problem, I tried the following patch which helped. I haven't seen
gnuclient die anymore.
Gnuclient died with the messages Connection reset by peer and unable to
read the reply from the server. And when clicking "Done" or typing
C-x # in the XEmacs buffer that was created on behalf of gnuclient,
gnuserv produced the message Connection aborted. (The messages are
from memory, I have replaced gnuclient with the patched version.)

I tried to to the following:
(setq clearcase-normal-diff-switches "--suppress-common-lines -y")
But it seems like all the string is sent as _one_ option instead
of two...
What can I do?

I don't understand. There are definitely serious keyboard issues (I
can't keep the region on at the same time the minibuffer is active,
which loses pretty badly), but for Return (a) the unconditional
binding in src/keymap.c and (b) the Lisp binding in lisp/keydefs.el
are as they've always been. Not to mention that RET is irrelevant in
an xterm; you only get to see the C-m.
Anyway, what I'm seeing is the opposite: CR is getting translated to
LF somehow in an xterm.

I am trying to compile xemacs-21.5.12 in a cygwin environment on a windows
xp laptop.
My gcc is:

Xemacs `alarm' implementation used `#ifdef HAVE_SETITIMER' causes
assert failures, at least when `alarm' is called from socks5 library
(when running `runsocks xemacs').
It appears that every call of standard library function requires
"disabling polling" (calling `stop_async_timeouts').
