[issue322] ruby-modes needs to be updated
16 years, 8 months
FKtPp
hi all,
Is there anyone aware of this issue? It was raised by graaff some time ago, but got no treatment...
Note that, he has already submitted the patch and required new files to the tracker.
Here's his last issue note:
Yes, it was already sent to xemacs-beta some time ago, before
the tracker was operational. At that point nobody seemed to
jump on it. I have been thinking about supporting it myself
but have decided that I won't be able to follow up on that
commitment in the near future. I've opened the bug to make
sure the files don't get lost, and hopefully someone else will
update the packages.

I forgot to mention that this is currently happening on both Cygwin/Native and Linux builds of 21.5b28, built from source just a few days ago. It's also been happening for quite a while...

Folding w/font-lock annoyance
16 years, 8 months
Rick Rankin
If I turn on folding mode when font-lock is active, and I open up a folded region, the unfolded text is (almost) always the color of the surrounding comment. For example, in a python file I might have
# {{{ class Foobar
...
# }}}
If that region is folded and I unfold it, all the code between the '# {{{' and '# }}}' markers will (almost always) be blue. All I have to do is move to the top of the just unfolded region and press a key to modify the text, and all the code from the modification point on is refontified, but it's very annoying to have to do that. I've done some googling, but haven't found anything that appears relevant, which leads me to believe that it may be something in my setup. Does anyone recognize these symptoms and/or have any suggestions about how to fix it? I'm stumped.
Thanks,
--Rick

[Bug: 21.5-b27] read-file-name in XEmacs/Win32
16 years, 8 months
Marcus Harnisch
================================================================
Dear Bug Team!
Trying to save MIME data from Gnus uses the wrong default directory. I
set mm-default directory to "~/Downloads/" (also tried
"~\\Downloads\\" without success)
Debugging revealed that the correct directory name has been passed to
`read-file-name' but the function seems to ignore that. I always get
whatever "~" expands to, no matter what.
I do *not* see that issue in my "XEmacs 21.5 (beta28) "fuki" (+CVS-20070829) [Lucid] (x86_64-unknown-linux, Mule) of Thu Aug 30 2007 on dipsy"
The changelog doesn't indicate any changes in that respect.
Regards
Marcus

Really? On my wife's German-localized Mac, they're called the same. It
appears the Finder displays them differently.

Just changing the paths would also cause problems for people using a
shared home directory between (regular) Unix and Mac (like me), or
switching between the X11 and the Carbon. We could probably look for
them if the searches at the usual locations fail. Would that be
reasonable?

Hiding the AUC-TeX toolbar
16 years, 8 months
Didier Verna
Hello,
I have toolbar-visible-p set to nil, but for some reason, AUC-TeX
doesn't honor it and still displays its toolbar.
I'm not sure whether AUC-TeX /should/ honor it (after all, it's supposed
to control the *defaut* toolbar), but otherwise, does anybody know a way
to turn it off ?
Thanks.

Patcher problems with new files.
16 years, 8 months
Malcolm Purvis
Didier,
I'm seeing a failure when I try and use patcher in a repository that
has files added and removed. Running patcher-mail, it fails with the
message:
<path>/dev/: no such directory
The changes in the repository look like:
magog$ hg st
M Makefile.in.in
M carbon/README
M configure
M configure.ac
M src/Makefile.in.in
A carbon/Emacs.icns
A carbon/Info.plist
A carbon/PkgInfo
A carbon/xpm/Makefile.in.in
R carbon/XEmacs.app/Contents/Info.plist
R carbon/XEmacs.app/Contents/PkgInfo
R carbon/XEmacs.app/Contents/Resources/Emacs.icns
R carbon/build-app.sh
R carbon/xpm/Makefile
I suspect that the problem relates to the diff output's usage of
/dev/null to indicate files that have been added and removed:
magog$ hg diff | grep dev
--- /dev/null Thu Jan 01 00:00:00 1970 +0000
--- /dev/null Thu Jan 01 00:00:00 1970 +0000
+++ /dev/null Thu Jan 01 00:00:00 1970 +0000
+++ /dev/null Thu Jan 01 00:00:00 1970 +0000
+++ /dev/null Thu Jan 01 00:00:00 1970 +0000
+++ /dev/null Thu Jan 01 00:00:00 1970 +0000
--- /dev/null Thu Jan 01 00:00:00 1970 +0000
+## Do not use it on development directories!
magog$
Should patcher work in this situation?
Malcolm

xemacs vs emacs
16 years, 8 months
Visajo
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to ask whether statement from book about xemacs is true.
Recently I have read "Linux Programmers Toolbox" and quote from it:
"Xemacs was a fork of Emacs, but now it seems these two programs have
merged into one big happy executable"
But on site http://www.xemacs.org/About/XEmacsVsGNUemacs.html
I have found:
"There are currently irreconcilable differences in the views about
technical, programming, design and organizational matters between
Richard Stallman (RMS) and the XEmacs development team which provide
little hope for a merge to take place in the short-term future.
If you have a comment regarding a merge, it is a good idea to avoid
posting to the newsgroups, because of the very heated flamewars that
often result. Mail your questions to xemacs-beta(a)xemacs.org and
emacs-devel(a)gnu.org.
Many people have noticed the great difference in focus between the two
"Viewpoints" presented here, and also have expressed confusion about
the legal issues RMS focuses on. The final sections present some
explanation and interpretation regarding these FAQs. "
I would like to know the truth, what this "difference" is all about.
Yours faithfully,
Adrian Elczewski
