I've just installed lastet XEmacs 21.5 (the CVS date in the
Installation file attached doesn't reflect this, though) and updated
to latest CVS packages on MacOSX 10.5.1. Now, my gnus configuration
causes trouble.
My gnus.el file contains `(require 'pgg)'. This fails with "Symbol's
value as variable is void: pgg-parse-crc24". The new build seems to
have problems with CCL, since the definition of `pgg-parse-crc24' in
pgg-parse.el is wrapped with "(when (fboundp 'define-ccl-program)
...".
Strangely, `(fboundp 'define-ccl-program)' evaluates to `t' in my
*scratch* buffer, but it does not seem to do this when pgg-parse.el is
loaded from my gnus.el.
It works when I put
(load-file "/SOME/PATH/xemacs-packages/lisp/pgg/pgg-parse.el")
in my gnus.el. How can I avoid this kludge and fix this for real?

Hallo, Dear Bug Team!
Occasionally, I have problems changing to a directory via 'C-x d', when
within a dired buffer.
Only error message is 'buffer-read-only...', see following stack trace.
When I kill all dired buffers
and retry, it works again.

I'm building VM from XEmacs package CVS updated last night, apparently
version 8.0.10-devo:

However, it has a number of serious problems. First, I'm not sure
what the exact issue is (it doesn't seem to be any of the ones
described below), but VM blows up in the smoketest build. I don't
think it's a good idea to have this version in the mainline of CVS for
this reason. It probably should be moved to a CVS branch, and the
mainline reverted to the previous released version.
Second, it can't determine its own version. See the Package: line
below, or the X-Mailer header of this message.
Third, it gets XEmacs's version wrong. See the X-Mailer header of
this message; my actual XEmacs version is

Fourth, when started VM immediately errors and is unable to set up the
summary buffer because the defcustoms `vm-configure-pixmapdir' and
`vm-configure-datadir' default to nil, and then are passed as the
FILENAME argument to expand-file-name. The following patch
illustrates one way to work around this problem.

Finally, if I understand the above, VM is not going to be able to find
its pixmap directory. The two vm-configure-* variables are nil; in
the XEmacs package architecture, the pixmaps will be in xemacs/etc/vm,
not in xemacs-packages/lisp/ or xemacs-packages/lisp/vm, and
data-directory will point to xemacs binary's own data, not to package
data.

[Bug: 21.5-b28] mswindows eshell pccomplete and the special backslash

Dear Bug Team!
The problem is, when I using eshell mode in ms-window system, say I
want to change into a long-named-directory. If I do a:
$ cd long-<TAB>
as in *nix systems, the long-named-directory will be pccompleted as
long-named-direcotry\
Note the trailing backlash, which also has special meaning in eshell.
So, every time I pccomplete a path name, I have to type in a extra
blackslash or blackspace to deal with the pccompleted-blackslash.
To reproduce this, you must be in MS-WINDOWS environment.

I am trying to open file test under c:\ driver of another host
xiamen (\\xiamen\c$\test), the function used to work well. If I share
c:\ manually (\\xiamne\c\test), it works well

I've already mailed to xemacs-beta but I've got no response at all.
I use mule XEmacs 21.5-b28 "fuki" (+CVS-20071205) configured for
`i686-pc-linux'.
to edit large number of polish texts encoded in iso-8859-2.

Latin 2 -- iso-8859-2
I think the files are properly encoded ( `iconv -f iso-8859-2 -t utf8` does
not complain).
In fact some of them were prepared in xemacs in Latin2 environment.
(usually edit in Latin-2 env -> save -> close -> open again -> Latin-1)
I redused the problem to a very small (couple of letters) documents and got
strange results:
1. if a document contains exactly one small polish letter (there are 9 of
them) then coding system is always Latin-1
2. if there are just 2 polish letters then coding system is Latin-2 unless
these letters are separated by any string i.e.
for example: it is ok for "wziąć" but not for "wzią ć"
3. I could not automaticaly get Latin-2 coding system for documents with
exactly 3 polish letters - did't check all posibilites.
4. I could't see any rule. in more complicated cases
Is this a bug or my xemacs is not configured properly?
Could you please help me or at least sugest where I can get help?

Dear Bug Team!
Here is another crash on aix. I run a recent mercurial version of
xemacs. gdb stacktrace is following after system spec.
The only thing I can remember is that I clicked around on the menu,
because I was wondering why certain menu items would
not be displayed. Might have to do with my window manager which is wmaker.

What annoys me most are the frequent crashes on x86_64 platforms. At
least once a day for me. Unfortunately, I cannot find a procedure to
reproduce these crashes.
The second most annoying thing is that often the memory
consumption goes up without any apparent reason. Right
now the xemacs I am using to type this mail uses more than
a gigabyte memory:
