Please reply to the mailing list, not to individuals. XEmacs is a _team_, and the individual who responds first is often not the person best suited to continue the thread. Also, please don't use HTML-only mail. It's only because I'm a perfectionist that it doesn't go straight to the bit-bucket; in the XEmacs context, we get literally thousands of spams a week in that format, and maybe one or two legit posts a month. I'm not sure whether Cygwin installs it, it's part of the source distribution. Why does package smoketest fail for 21.1? 19 years, 1 month

The XEmacs Package Smoketest

Hi, Trying to get all versions of XEmacs in the package smoketest to build properly. Now the time has come to analyze 21.1 (mule and no-mule). (I have a script that periodically checks for hanging xemacs processes and kills them to avoid the whole smoketest to stop.) (Could the ^G, bell, cause some problem when the process is run by cron!?) Anyway the main issue here is that xemacs 21.1 gets a problem with the missing font-lock-constant-face when compiling ocaml. Yours -- %% Mats

no iso 10646 fonts are used 19 years, 1 month

Build error - 21.5.19 - optional-libs are bad 19 years, 1 month

FYI - Not an xemacs problem per-se but at http://ftp.za.xemacs.org/xemacs/aux/ it is recommended to download http://ftp.xemacs.org/pub/xemacs/aux/win32/optional-libs.exe for jpeg, zlib, etc. For starters, that link gets you 404 Not Found The requested URL /pub/xemacs/aux/win32/optional-libs.exe was not found on this server. Patch for pcl-cvs to handle CVS 1.12.9 output 19 years, 1 month

Stefen, et al: I'm not completely in the loop with where or who might be maintaining the pcl-cvs code base, but a recent change to one of my cvs servers (moved up to version 1.12.9) caused some parse errors in pcl-cvs. I did notice reference to the same error on the gnu.org lists: http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/emacs-pretest-bug/2004-10/msg00125.html ... But no other references turned up in my googling on the topic. A couple of quick hack patches have fixed the problem for all the various servers I use, some new, some older, but someone else should look over the code to ensure that I've not made some other drastic error. Redisplay bug in recent sjt-xft 19 years, 1 month

This is weird. With all my recent updates, the tabs widget manages to get itself into a tail-chasing state of flicker where you can tell it's flickering, but it's mostly not there. What's bizarre is that XEmacs still works, I can edit in the buffer even though the tabs are inflooping at the same time! It's happened a couple of times, so far C-l has always convinced it to recover. Don't know what causes it. I'm running in the debugger, but TSTPing it doesn't leave me anywhere useful. getting URLs to fire off to a running Firefox 19 years, 1 month

Apologies for the previous partially composed message ... pushed the wrong button. I'm running xemacs 21.4 (patch 15) on SuSe Linux Pro 9.2. A couple of years ago I lost the ability to right click a URL in email or news and never bothered to track it down. Now I've got a new job and am interested in restoring that feature. The scenario is as follows. I might see a URL in email, e.g.: http://www.google.com to pick an easy example. If I right click on it I get a pop-up choice to send it to W3, Mosaic (which for some reason is listed twice), Netscape, Konqueror, and the X clipboard. I'm using Firefox as my default browser on this system, which I just installed and configured yesterday. I found by experimentation that when I select Konqueror from that pop-up menu, it does send the URL to Firefox, opening it in the current tab/window, but it also forks off a copy of Konqueror, and sometimes but not always brings it up there, too. Ideally, I'd rather have a selection on that pop-up to send it to Firefox directly, but if not, at least I'd like it not to bring up Konqueror, just send it to Firefox.
