[Bug: 21.4.13] custom-set-faces shrinks frame

Dear Bug Team!
The first couple of times I execute
(custom-set-faces
'(default ((t (:size "8pt" :foreground " black" :background " white"
:family "Bitstream Vera Sans Mono"))) t)
)
the size of my XEmacs frame shrinks, sometimes both the height and the
width, sometimes just the height or the width. After a couple of
executions, it stops shrinking.
This behavior occurs even when I start XEmacs with "xemacs -vanilla".
I normally invoke XEmacs with "xemacs -geometry 87x83-0-8". Shrinking
stops when XEmacs is 85x81. I do not set the frame size of XEmacs in my
init files or via xrdb.

Hi,
I (finally) came around last night and built a new binary on Windows
for the latest XEmacs code from CVS.
I built two versions:
One with error checking and debug enabled and one without (see below).
The version with debug and error checking enabled does not show
the "Symbol's value as variable is void: region" error but the one
without debugging enabled does.
Here's a stacktrace that happens when I try to select a piece
of text using SHIFT-left arrow:

(Add'l info) Build problem and problem with region in 21.5 under Cygwin.
Here's some additional info. I set debug-on-error to true and got the

I might also have corrupt sources, but I doubt it (as a build for Linux
from the same source tree works fine). In any case I have the very same
error with 21.5.13 on AIX 5.1. Here's my backtrace (similar to Rick's):

I also tried setting debug-on-error to t and got the same backtrace as

Can I assume this was already fixed on those other platforms, but the
fix did not make it to Darwin? Can someone fill me in on the fix, so I
can apply it to the Darwin version as well?
By the way, this was built on Mac OS X 10.2.6, with X11 from
www.osxgnu.org. I configured with --error-checking=none. The error
happens when running in X11 or TTY mode.

The most recent igrep package behaves differently when using
`igrep-find', making it difficult to search for files in any directory
but the current one. My previous version of igrep prompted for a file
pattern by offering the buffer's current working directory followed by
a sensible wildcard:

With this, I could easily back up a few directories or edit the path
in any way. It was easy to search in a directory distant from the
current buffer's directory.
The new prompt comes up with a nice default wildcard, but omits the
directory:

I know that I can then start typing "../../" and tabbing around, but I
can't figure out how to get the directory back into the default
prompt.
By default, the igrep uses the function `igrep-files-default' (bound
to `igrep-buffer-file-name-pattern') to build the file prompt. I don't
see a similar function to restore the old behavior.

For the record, trying to search within, say, "~/src/" fails due to
`shell-quote-argument' around line 812 in igrep.el:

Probably a known bug---in Sun Motif. There are actually a couple of
them, independent of each other. See PROBLEMS, search for Motif. Get
Sun patches referenced there. Be happy.

Hi Norbert,
Hyperbole should now work in the package tree. I have checked in a new
Makefile and made some obvious changes to connections to the mail lists
and supplied a few of the few local patches I have had locally. (You
see from the checkins that it is really just a little.)
I believe that hyperbole now is ready to be built by the smoketest and
even also used!
So please go ahead and add hyperbole to the xemacs-package/Makefile.

Hi folks,
I can finally merge my files. I downloaded diff3 from
http://www.tasoft.com/patches/binw/diff3.exe
Previously, I had downloaded 2.8.1 from sourceforge but that didn't work.
The version I previously had 2.7 also was not working. Many people on the
net had exactly the same problem with it that I had. Too bad nobody has
fixed it yet. I have requested subscription of a group from sourceforge. As
soon as I install everything required to build it, I will fix the bug.
Actually, the windows sources I downloaded from sourceforge are not windows
sources. The first line in configure says #! /bin/sh , amazing !!
sourceforge has not included any readmes or install etc. for the windows
version. Just copied the original GNU files. So, I have no idea how to
compile the diffutils which require a shell among other things. As I told
you before, I can't install the latest cygwin. Somebody should really fix
this problem, it is just too bad. Till then, hats off to Tasoft !!
I still don't know how you are able to diff directories. My XEmacs will not
be satisfied until I give two files as input when I want to diff two
directories. I don't give a damn about that actually. I can just write
"diff -wbBqr directory1 directory2" on the command prompt, works great !!
