XEmacs without pdump would allow to add
"../xemacs-packages/lisp/vc/vc-hooks.elc"
"../lisp/wid-edit.elc"
"../xemacs-packages/lisp/xemacs-base/comint.elc"
to `site-packages' file and dump them during build. With pdump
dumping prints:
Undumpable object type : extent-info
On some platforms (including one described below) `configure.in'
comment says that glibc 2.3.1 seems to hose unexec, so enabling pdump
is required for building. Perhaps it should check for glibc version
since my one is earlier than 2.3.1.

I noticed this the other day while building XEmacs...
Loading /usr/local/lib/xemacs-21.5-b12/i586-pc-linux/modules/auto-autoloads...
...doesn't look right to me. Why are we loading an installed file at
build time?
Jerry, could you please fix this up.

shell buffer / tcsh command line length limit in RH 8?

I reported this bug to Red Hat on the assumption that this was a bug in
tcsh or readline, but I suppose it's equally likely that it's a bug in
how xemacs is dealing with ptys (since the bug does not occur when
running tcsh in gnome-terminal.) I also assume they will completely
ignore my report without even looking at it, since emacs is involved.
So I'll report it to you guys as well:

Since upgrading from RH 7.2 to RH 8.0, I can no longer compose long
command lines in tcsh when running in an XEmacs *shell* buffer. I don't
know whether this is a bug in tcsh, or in readline, or what, but it does
not happen with bash.
It's not merely truncating the command line -- it's also apparently
leaving the un-read characters on the input buffer, and then
interpreting them as commands afterward! This is potentially
disasterous, and could easily lead to loss of files, if there were
redirections or something on the command line.
This still happens after setting $LANG to C, so it's apparently not some
Unicode locale BS, as so many recent problems are.
Watch what happens (line wrapping and blank lines inserted for
readability):

Dear Bug Team!
I get a "Cannot switch buffers in minibuffer window" error message
when I do the following. I can reproduce this at will with 'xemacs -q'.
1. Start with a single buffer.
2. Do 'C-x 2'
3. Go to the bottom buffer.
4. Do 'C-x 3'
5. Go the right hand side buffer.
6. Do 'C-x b' (switch-to-buffer here). Give any buffer name or even
'RET' for the default choice.
I see the following error:

21.5 indents java files wrongly, only in jde-mode. This problem has
been on 21.5 for a while, so it should be a known bug, but I have not
been able to find a discussion in any of the lists.
The problem happens with comments. Here's a sample file
/**
* Class Tmp
*
*/
public class Tmp {}
This is correctly indented; however, xemacs 21.5 only, and in JDE mode
only, indents this as:
/**
* Class Tmp
*
*/
public class Tmp {}
which is clearly wrong. How can this be fixed?

igrep-find - default "File(s)" argument no longer includes path

The most recent igrep package behaves differently when using
`igrep-find', making it difficult to search for files in any directory
but the current one. My previous version of igrep prompted for a file
pattern by offering the buffer's current working directory followed by
a sensible wildcard:

With this, I could easily back up a few directories or edit the path
in any way. It was easy to search in a directory distant from the
current buffer's directory.
The new prompt comes up with a nice default wildcard, but omits the
directory:

I know that I can then start typing "../../" and tabbing around, but I
can't figure out how to get the directory back into the default
prompt.
By default, the igrep uses the function `igrep-files-default' (bound
to `igrep-buffer-file-name-pattern') to build the file prompt. I don't
see a similar function to restore the old behavior.

For the record, trying to search within, say, "~/src/" fails due to
`shell-quote-argument' around line 812 in igrep.el:

Hi Norbert,
Hyperbole should now work in the package tree. I have checked in a new
Makefile and made some obvious changes to connections to the mail lists
and supplied a few of the few local patches I have had locally. (You
see from the checkins that it is really just a little.)
I believe that hyperbole now is ready to be built by the smoketest and
even also used!
So please go ahead and add hyperbole to the xemacs-package/Makefile.
