Hi, I sent following bug report but it does not deliverd (AFAIK),
I cannot see my message on nntp:gmane.org nor archive on xemacs.org
(and I've not received any error message)
I've re-sent the message via nntp:gmane.org one day after, but it
ended with the same result.
So, I'm re-sending it from another address again.
Can you see this message?

Infinite recursion of function-inlining in byte-compiler

Dear Bug Team!
Here's a byte-compiler bug of appears to be an infinite loop while
trying to inline a recursive function.
Create the following two files in any directory:
compile-me.el:

(eval-when (compile) (push "." load-path))
(require 'definition)
(defun bar (arg)
(foo arg))
----------
definition.el:
----------
(provide 'definition)
(defsubst foo (arg)
(if arg
(foo nil)))
----------
Then from that directory, run "xemacs compile-me.el". Once it's
loaded, execute M-x byte-compile-buffer.
This results in an error:
Compiling buffer compile-me.el at Tue Jun 10 12:34:49 2003
While compiling bar:
!! error (("Variable binding depth exceeds max-specpdl-size"))
I'm guessing that the compilation of bar() caused foo() to be inlined
into it, and that the byte-compiler then tried to inline foo() into
itself recursively.
Note that this error doesn't appear if you simply place foo and bar in
the same file:

Using load instead of require, however, DOES cause an error:

Note that I'm using a patched version of XEmacs 21.4.12 on Darwin.
However, I hear that this bug occurs on 21.4.13/Linux as well.

[Bug: 21.4.13] Win32 - blue screen of death with matrox millenium g450 dualhead

Dear Bug Team!
After installing a Matrox Millenium G450 Dual Head graphics card, I
was unpleasantly suprised when trying to do dired, and I got the
extremely unpleasant 'Blue screen of death' (page_to_nonpage_error,
my PC rebooted before I could write down the detailed info :-().
Invoking dired or other commands involving entry into the
minibuffer appear to cause the error. I did NOT have any problems
before the Matrox Millenium g450 dualhead graphics card was installed.
I don't get any problems with "xemacs -vanilla". I narrowed down the
problem to the following statements in my init.el file:

I suggest to keep the file around, but to upgrade all dates to
include the YYYY, and ...
People will read the page out of context. Therefore, the avoid
confusion, I suggest it should be updated from today's point of view
in all important places.
Stephen, would that be a lot of trouble for you to do?
You're definitely the most qualified historian on the matter.
Vin, Steve, Stephen, we should probably get rid of references to it in
future release announcements. Do we all agree?

Hello,
Right now I am having this problem with XEmacs. It crashes often.
I am not really sure if the application was upgraded after or before the
OS, from Solaris 8 to 9.
The application usually gives a segmentation fault when you are working on
any document.
But the most common (detectable) problem occurs by using any option
related to "FIND", as soon as you click that option, the application
crashes, generating a core file with the following information. Hopefully
you will know what is all about.

/ftp.xemacs.org:/pub/xemacs/packages/
2) Unpack them to: [2]
/usr/local/lib/xemacs/xemacs-packages/
3) Re-start XEmacs.
Using XEmacs Package Tools (XEmacs 21.[245].x):

1) Tools -> Packages -> Add Download Site -> choose site
2) Tools -> Packages -> List and Install
3) Select the packages you wish to install (there are brief
instructions at the bottom of the packages buffer).
4) Packages -> Install/Remove Selected
5) Re-start XEmacs.

Can specify non-existing init file

Hello,
via -user-init-file an user can point to an special init file.
Unfortunately xemacs doesn't complain, if this file does not exist.
Wouldn't it be better to warn the user about this?
