toolbar picks up -bg 26 years, 5 months

Now I understand Kyle's intent a little more clearly. here is a patch to reinstate -bg behaviour. This has the advantage that if you set attributeBackground for the default face the modeline will still pick up the background spec. dark background, unreadable modeline 26 years, 5 months

Am I the only one? My background is black, and the default selected colors for fontification is fine. However, the modeline colors are unreadable. This is what I see: I see in modeline.el that the colors are hard-coded, and not dependent on the frame's background type. I converted these to defcustom, but I ended up without colors, I guess because the modeline faces are created before the initial frame, so the `(class color)' part fails. I'm not sure how to go about fixing this, but I know that jwz (and others) will bitch about this. And they will be right. Maybe if we changed the colors to something that would look good on a black brackground and the default background. But I can't find any good colors for that. -- Colin

[Success] "Swedish Landrace" on DU 4.0D with cc and CDE support 26 years, 5 months

Digital UNIX V4.0D with xpm, CDE, JPEG, compression, ... Built with no problems. Looks good. DnD seems to work, although I want to test more completely. I can drag a file into the XEmacs frame, but attempts to drop into the icon failed. Small note: If I build with the -std1 option which enforces strict ANSI compliance, I get a LARGE number of errors and the load fails with unresolved symbols. Most add. The build must be with CFLAGS=-O2. Not a significant problem, just something I thought I'd note. I can provide a list of errors (HUGE) seen with -std1 on request. R. Is `xemacs -batch' supposed to load site-start.el? This caused a (minor) problem when building, due to an error in my site-start.el file (expecting emacs-beta-version to be an integer). It would seem (to me) more logical for -batch to imply -vanilla. -- Glynn Clements <glynn(a)sensei.co.uk>

emacs.c does not compile under b44. The problem is that EMACS_BETA_VERSION is defined as "" and therefore the make_int fails in emacs.c. I do not have access to diff right now, so I have included the portion of xemacs.mak that must change. [1] Hope this helps someone.
