The font-family stuff is a list because you can specify multiple families of fonts, in order of preference, in case one of the families doesn't have the attributes you want (ie: if there is no bold courier, it could fall back to trying bold arial). Do _not_ change this behaviour. font.el is part of Emacs/W3. :) The CSS code relies on this. And it should be part of our new font model. -Bill P.

Lisp shadowings 21.0 "Toggenburg" XEmacs 26 years, 5 months

I CVS updated everything. Built OK. This site has duplicate Lisp libraries with the same name. Let me try that agian... There was a whole paragraph somehow embedded in the mail headers, rather than in the body of the email. Here it is: I just tried to edit the `libc.info-1.gz' file, since there where several menu entries that abutted their descriptions, causing `info' to not highlight the menu entry. When I saved the file, it garbaged it. In order to get a valid file, I had to first gunzip it, by hand, edit that, then gzip it by hand again.

bug: display-buffer 26 years, 5 months

I think I've stumbled across another bug.... I can't get display-buffer to display a buffer that is in a lower window. If you've got several buffers loaded, try eval'ing the following snippet in scratch. you should get a new frame to pop up with *scratch* in it. (setq test-frame (make-frame)) (select-frame test-frame) (display-buffer "*scratch*" ) now, split *scratch* into 2 windows. Select some other buffer into the lower window. *Warnings*, *Completions*, whatever and replace *scratch* in the above snippet and eval it. You'll probably end up with a new frame with whatever is in the top window of the currently selected frame. I see that display-buffer was converted to lisp from C at some point. I assume the lossage happened then. Emacs still has this in C and it functions as you would expect. I've tried stepping through the debugger but whaterver is causing this is eluding me. So i'm kinds stuck.... jeff

Need help to fix a crash on irix 26 years, 5 months

Stupid SGI trick of the day: lrwxr-xr-x 1 root sys 12 Sep 24 1997 /usr/lib32/libz.so -> libiflPNG.so This means that linking with -lz, which is done by default, pulls in some ifl libraries. These libraries (Image Format Library) is a set of C++ classes with C wrappers which uses constructors calls for static objects on startup to auto-initialize the list of supported formats. We use dumping, which means that the initialisation is done twice for the dumped executable. Immediate and inavoidable segfault. Ideas ? OG.
