can anyone give a concise summary of the differences between completer.el, completion.el, icomplete.el and crm.el? i use completer and don't know about the rest, but completer, icomplete and crm, at least, all claim that they are some sort of minibuffer completion enhancers. ben

Tex-Mode not working in XEmacs 18 years, 5 months

I installed the native Windows port of XEmacs (XEmacs 21.4 (patch 13)) 1. When I load a latex-file XEmacs remains in raw mode 2. There is no menubar entry referring to TeX/LaTeX Entering the command M-x tex-mode gives me the error message "Symbol's function definition is void: regexp-opt" What to do ? Peter

OS: Mac OS X 10.4.2 CC: gcc 4.00 XEmacs: 21.5.b22 (+CVS-20051022) configure: aclocal: 1.9.5 autoconf: 2.59 Neither --disable-error-checking nor --without-error-checking work. Is there a new way to turn error checking off? Maybe move it to xemacs-base? Hi Ville! XEmacs' package system is not functional without xemacs-base, dired, efs. So, unless we switch to a http package installation system, these are all destined to go into XEmacs core. I'm jumping to conclusions a bit, but I guess you see my point. Alternatively, we could just publish (defcustom package-get-download-sites and (defcustom package-get-pre-release-download-sites somewhere. Here is the next version of savehist, after no less than eight years. New features: - autosaving of histories - reliable handling of non-printable items in variables - attempt to use a re-readable coding system under Mule (minibuffer histories can easily contain characters other than those handlable by the user's language environment), with the possibility of affecting the coding system used. Please let me know if it works for you.

Crashing SUSE 10.0 xemacs with c++-mode 18 years, 6 months

Hi. I'm currently using SUSE 10.0 (commercial version) xemacs (version info: [version 21.5.21 of February 2005 (+CVS-20050720)] ). I can easily crash it using the attached 'custom.el' Procedure: Open a file (F3): foo.cc (it goes into c++-mode and font-lock-mode) Write: #include<iostream When type the closing '>' it crashes. I've experimented a bit, and it looks like it has something to do with the 'font-lock-mode'. If it is not enable at start-up (commenting out the 'load "font-lock"') it is not happening The output trace is attached too. I can't send you a core because I have only a modem. But you can do one on your own. I've tested this on several diffent machines (all running SUSE 10.0). The result can be reproduced. MfG UM

cmr.el (completing-read-multiple) in XEmacs 18 years, 6 months

Hi, Arne Jørgensen wrote improved completing support for inserting stuff like "\usepackage[bar,baz,zab]{foo}" in AUCTeX. The function needs `completing-read-multiple' from `crm.el'[1] which is available in Emacs 21 and Emacs 22 (CVS[2]), but not in XEmacs. We found that `riece.el'[3] which is available as an XEmacs package seems to duplicate some code from `crm.el' for XEmacs. Wouldn't it make much more sense to include `crm.el' in `xemacs-base', some utility package or distribute it as a separate package instead of duplicating it's code in several packages? Bye, Reiner.
