I'm using a Debian/Linux box now with Xemacs 21.4.12 (GTK-XEMACS). The
ls format I used adheres to the ISO format YYYY-MM-DD and this is not
recogniced by the dired-re-month-and-time Variable. I adopted it to

Dear Bug Team!
I'm using the latest version of Xemacs for MS Windows.
I want to be able to type all Polish characters
/code page cp-1250/
All but two Polish characters can be typed correctly.
These are ANSI 0156, octal \234, and
ANSI 0140, octal \214
These two characters are are displayed as a backslash and and octal
value.
What can I do to make them display correctly?
I will appreciate your help.

xemacs 21.4.12 build depends on makeinfo

I note that the build of xemacs-21.4.12 depends on makeinfo.
If makeinfo is absent this prevents xemacs from building
and installing cleanly. Sure, I can fix this in my environment
by getting makeinfo from a TeX distribution, but IMO this
should not be necessary. Can't this be figured out by
the configure script? Couldn't it be an option on the
configure script so when it checks for makeinfo a missing
makeinfo is fatal by default but can be ignored via a suitable
command line option (e.g --makeinfo=no) ? Please consider
this as an enhancement request.

make one more release to fix the minor build problems, and then
declare 21.4 stable.)

icc gives this warning:

Dear Bug Team!
Using clearcase.el, I opened the ClearCase menu. Something apparently
failed in the clearcase process. The menu displayed without drawing
menu items. At about the same time the current buffer switched to a
ClearCase warning or error buffer. When I clicked on the main window,
emacs crashed.
This isn't reliably reproducible. But I've seen this kind of failure
before.

Sun or GCC unbroke some earlier breakage. There's a fix in 21.5, I
think, I need to remember to apply it to 21.4.

you have a working XEmacs available.)

Details: ./src/s/sol2.h and va_list hack
Near the top of ./src/s/sol2.h there is a conditional of the form:
/* Fix understandable GCC lossage on Solaris 2.6 */
#if defined(__GNUC__) && OS_RELEASE >= 56 && !defined(NOT_C_CODE)
Directly under this is a block of code to hack the definition
of va_list which does not succeed on my system. The block in question is:

If left in the following problem arises during compilation:

Looking over the gcc -E output seems to suggest that we now
have a mixture of Solaris 8 va_list and GCC va_list definitions plus
the Xemacs "hack". Removing the "hack" (via #if
defined(KEEP_THIS_CODE) around the above mentioned code block), and
"gmake clean ; gmake all" results in the output below (temacs
problems) which as stated seems to not re-occur on a second invocation
of "gmake all". "gmake check ; gmake install" succeed and Xemacs seems
functional.
