Dear Bug Team!
I was using XEmacs to edit C files, with no problems. When I exited
XEmacs, the terminal displayed an error message, "Fatal error (10)",
with instructions and XEmacs core dumped from a Bus Error.

Dear Bug Team!
I've been looking at printing from XEmacs (under Windows NT) and found
Enscript (http://people.ssh.fi/mtr/genscript/windows-95-NT/ ), which
looks like it should be usable as an external printing program - but
there's a glitch:
I tried printing multiple files with dired-do-print (I put
(setq dired-print-program-alist
'(("\\.java$" . "enscript -C ")
(".*" . "enscript ")))
into my init.el), but the printing still failed, with a message
couldn't open input file "c\:\\scratch\\test\\Test.java": Invalid
argument
no output generated
Now that's a pretty suggestive error message :-) - so I wrote a little
Perl script removing the extra backslashes before passing its
parameters to the real enscript and set that script into
dired-print-program-alist. That worked, but seems sub-optimal to me -
I think dired-do-print should know that it's running under Windows and
respect their directory separator(s), instead of quoting them.

hi developpers,
After searching a while in mailing-lists I don't find any report about
this problem. I'm using xemacs 21.4.6 with gtk widgets. I've a PC with
the 'windows' extended keyboard, so there's a "menu" key. Using this key
give me always the same message:
"popup-mode-menu must be bound to a mouse or misc-user event"
My question is:
Is there something to do to get this menu key working as the mouse
button 3 ? (like a popup menu appearing at text cursor position)
Or is it a unknown bug (then thanks to me reporting it;-)) ?

Dear Bug Team!
I don't know if this was just a "one-off", but XEmacs (latest 21.5
CVS) just dumped core while I was selecting a nnml group in Gnus
(latest CVS Oort). I'd been using Gnus all morning with no problems,

what happens that puzzles me? the toolbar icons in the default toolbar
are drawn with a Blanched Almond bg amid a forest green toolbar,
while, e.g., gnus and info (two packages that use their own toolbar)
both happily draw the icons bg in forest green, that imho is the
correct behaviour

Hook for buffer or mode change?

I had some students in our Software Engineering class here take on the
job of providing my ViaVoice module with a reasonable user interface
last semester. They did a pretty good job, but I still need to clean up
the code a bit. One thing that is still extremely kludgy is an attempt
to set the ViaVoice grammar by mode. What I need to make this work
right is a way to run a hook whenever:
(a) some buffer becomes the current buffer; or
(b) the mode (either major or minor) of the current buffer changes.
I don't see anything suitable. The menubar, toolbar, and gutter are all
changed in those situations, but it looks like they are marked so that
redisplay notices the change and updates accordingly. I don't see a way
to hook into that process either. Is there a clean way to do this? My
students tried redefining or advising all of the user-visible buffer
changing commands (yikes!), which still leaves (b) without a solution.

Thanks for the patch... I really don't like transparency, but I'll see
about getting it committed. Comments:
1) I think you could probably reduce the number of variables. Something
like a generic gtk-transparency which is a list of things to make
transparent. So you could put '(text tab background) in there to make
everything transparent.
2) Static variables always scare me in XEmacs - most of those should be in
either the GTK device structure, or the GTK frame structure. Especially
if GTK ever gets real mulit-display support, the atoms on each display
could be different.
Would you be interested in making these changes?

What are the 'extreme bogosity' hard-coded offsets for? Is that for
figuring out where the actual emacs frame starts?
What about calling Fredraw_frame(frame,Qt) instead of directly calling
gtk_redraw_exposed_area(f,0,0,32000,32000)?
Would any of this logic make sense to be down in the GtkXEmacs widget
instead of up in redisplay?

Maybe my eyes just aren't as good as all the 'young punks' nowadays who
seem to like transparency. :)
