I've already signaled this crash twice. Andy, I believe you fixed this
very same crash, when it was reported to happen under X. I still get it under
ttys. I doesn't happen when running in -vanilla mode.

Well, the frame gets created now... that's something at least. :)
Something seriously screwed in the font calculations, but progress. And
liam is at school all day tomorrow, so I'm hopeful to see some things
actually get drawn by the end of day. :)

Nonetheless, I *am* still seeing this behaviour. Perhaps it is a
bizarre artefact of the particular setup of my system, but, unless there
is something grievously wrong in the way I have configured XEmacs, it is
likely to happen to at least some other users over time. I would
appreciate any suggestions as to how I can proceed in isolating this.

It does, actually. On the filters pane, you can restrict the list in
various ways, and it allows filtering on all the things you'd expect,
including charset.

Hrmm... so to get the equivalent of XDrawImageString I would need to fill
the rectangle manually first, then call gdk_draw_text (which boils down to
XDrawString)? Ick.

Sorry to bother this list, but I have received no response from
either the regular xemacs list nor the xemacs newsgroup (the two
don't seem to be coupled anymore). I still haven't been able to
figure out how to fix this problem.

I just compiled and installed XEmacs 21.1.9 on RedHat 6.1 (i686),
Solaris 2.6 (sparc), and Solaris 2.7. When I run gdb on a piece of C
code, I don't get the debug icons I used to get under XEmacs 20.4, and
in general something seems to be broken about it. When I "run" the
program I'm debugging in the gdb/GUD window, I get:
(1) (error/warning) Error in process filter: (error toolbar spec must
be list or nil t.c)
I tried doing this with setting "Debug on Error" under the
Options->General Options menu, and I get the long list of messages
attached to the bottom of this post.
This behaves the same under every installation of XEmacs 2.1.9. The
same procedures performed with XEmacs 20.4 (which is still available on
all the machines) did not have any problems. Although I didn't install
the sumo tarballs, I double checked that I have the debug package and
its dependecies installed, and I have the latest versions.
Can anybody offer any help? Thanks
