It works this way (doc.c): doc type is (char *). If (EMACS_INT) doc >= 0, it is really a pointer. Otherwise we should use (off_t) (- (EMACS_INT) doc) for seeking in `DOC' file. It used to be this way in emacs-18.55, so it worked for all known platforms for more than 10 yrs, and my ones are no exception. But what forbids it to stop working? What requires valid pointers to be non- negative when converted to integer? Once it is not the case, doc implementation has to be rewritten. Most surprising is why design its own representation rules for doc? We just have a way to store both integer and pointer in a single word distinguishably: Lisp_Object. Why not reuse it for Lisp_Subr.doc?

w/o menu gutter misplaced 24 years

Version: 21.2.37, 21.2.38 Platform: SCO 5.0.2, gcc 2.95.2 1. Run `xemacs -q' 2. Evaluate (set-specifier menubar-visible-p nil 'global) Gutter with buffer tabs remains located as if there is still a frame menu. Upper text window of the same frame becomes attached to frame upper edge, so that part of its text is overlapped by gutter.

Background pixmaps do not change properly 24 years

Error Starting VM in XEmacs 21.2 b36 24 years

Issues outstanding, redux (summary) 24 years

Reviving this thread in view of active interest in scheduling a public release on both xemacs-beta and xemacs-review. [Is there a Lisp function for getting the archive URL from a message ID? Actually doing the searches by hand is kinda painful (for some reason recently my HTTP connectivity has sucked, I think it's local network mismanagement). If I could just queue them up to be dumped in a buffer it would be cool.] Since there's a lot of stuff here, I suggest that if you have issues to add, can confirm that one has been resolved, or want to say that a particular issue is irrelevant to a near-future release, do it in this thread. If you want to discuss any of the particular points, try to start a new thread (or reply to an existing alternative thread). Gunnar Everman has posted several BTS reports; I guess those should be at least evaluated and presumably fixed before release. Gunnar (if you're watching), do you have a summary handy, or should I go filter the archives? turning off gutters doesn't really turn off gutters 24 years

In XEmacs 21.2 (beta33) "Melpomene" [Lucid] (sparc-sun-solaris2.7) of Wed May 3 2000 on rhea configured using `configure --prefix=/export/users/hamishm/xemacs --site-prefixes=/export/users/hamishm/gnome:/export/users/hamishm --pdump --with-athena=xaw --with-menubars=lucid --with-scrollbars=lucid --with-dialogs=athena --with-widgets=athena --with-dragndrop=no --with-tooltalk=no' cvs-upped May 3, 15:50 EDT (Canada). I turn off gutter-tabs using the options menu (Options, Gutters, Buffer tabs visible), and save options (another bug report coming on that too..). When I restart XEmacs, the *gutter tabs are back*. The radio-button in the menu is still off. Quite annoying, given that the gutters are regularly crashing my XEmacs. >From my .custom file: ... '(gutter-buffers-tab-visible-p nil) ... `gutter-buffers-tab-visible-p' is a variable declared in Lisp. -- loaded from "/export/users/hamishm/archive/xemacs-21.2/lisp/gutter-items.elc" Value: nil Documentation: Whether the buffers tab is globally visible.
