Cannot delete multiple packages via pui-list-packages 25 years, 2 months

In the *Packages* buffer I select a few packages to get rid of with d. Then I execute with x. d runs `pui-toggle-package-delete-key' x runs `pui-install-selected-packages' After the first package gets de-installed by `package-admin-delete-binary-package' I get thrown to 'done because the function returns nil. part of pui-install-selected-packages': (when (catch 'done (mapcar (lambda (pkg) (if (not (package-admin-delete-binary-package pkg (package-admin-get-install-dir pkg nil))) ----------------------------------> (throw 'done nil))) pui-deleted-packages) t) (message "Packages deleted") ) This is because the last form in `package-admin-delete-binary-package', calling `package-delete-name' returns nil always! ;; Delete the package from the database of installed packages. You run-in-place because you're just building/installing on one machine, so make install is pointless. Now you want to use it. So you symlink /usr/local/bin/xemacs -> ..../src/xemacs. That's fine, but what about gnuclient, etags, etc? Seems to me it makes perfect sense that you want symlinks for them too. Is run-in-place supposed to be useful? If so, should gnuclient work? If so you either have symlinks or else add lots of strange stuff to your path. I think most people (or at least many) would prefer the symlinks.

Patch for Solaris 'cc' 25 years, 2 months

As I reported earlier today, building on Solaris 2.5 with Sun's SPARCWorks compiler went OK, except for the linking stage of temacs. I checked the mailing list archives and saw that someone else had already encountered the same problem and had devised the same ugly workaround (manually fixing the Makefile). Since it's no longer an isolated incident[1], I decided to hack a patch for this. The following patch works in my environment[2], but may be incorrect in other combinations of Solaris version and compiler versions. It surely makes it easier to track for somebody else reading the code. What currently also bothers me (independent of this) is that using auto-load looses information. For instance add-minor-mode uses an commandp call on the toggle funtion. However that does not work if that function is just an autoload stub. Jan
