Build failure :-( 25 years, 10 months

I've build successfully 21.0 "Uzbek Black" and now tried to build "Benadir" but got a segmentation fault. The only difference in setup between the two builds is a newer version of egcs (currently: gcc version egcs-2.91.51 19980714). I'm running Linux 2.1.108 and use a glibc 2.1 snapshot on i486. Now I'm trying to build a minimal xemacs that has debugging/error checking enabled with gcc 2.7.2.3. I'll tell the results. Andreas Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault. Where to get package-get-base for 21.0-b50 25 years, 10 months

Ielm vs. ":" 25 years, 10 months

I can no longer use ielm in b50. Ielm uses the symbols `:', `::', and `:::' to refer to the results of the previous, second previous and third previous evaluations respectively. However in b50, doing (setq : nil) results in Attempt to set a constant symbol: :, nil Similarly for :: and :::. In fact, (boundp '::::::::::::::::) evaluates "t" for an arbitrarily long string of colons. Why? It's been several betas since I tested ielm, but it used to work.

OK, I've been trying to steer clear of getting involved in this thread, but I do have several questions: - how does xv handle GIF licensing issues? - is there a legal GIF library that can be purchased (preferably at low cost) which we could support? - when i save a TIFF in xv it offers LZW compression. will our TIFF support read this? (my xemacs does not have tiff) if so, does it violate the same patent? - how do i get xv to write PNG format? - will your typical Mac or Windows MUA handle PNGs? greg
