Hi, I am using the latest beta of folding.el with XEmacs 21.0 "Finnish Landrace" [Lucid] (i386-pc-win32) (same bug is present with folding.el included with XEmacs). Being a big fan of zmacs-region, I was disappointed to find that folding mode caused my usual way of selecting regions (e.g. to select a line C-space, C-a, C-e) to break :( I discovered that the following 3 functions would unset my mark. Upon reading some documentation, this seems to be caused by an argument to interactive used by these functions. With the following tiny patch, the undesirable behaviour is gone. However, it looks like FSF Emacs does not know about _, so I am not sure which piece of code (XEmacs, FSF Emacs, folding.el) should be fixed. XEmacs 21.2-beta2 "Aether" is released 25 years, 7 months

The default branch is XEmacs 21.0. XEmacs 21.2 is an experimental, alpha developmental branch of XEmacs. If you haven't installed XEmacs 21.0 and are not comfortable with the packaging system don't try installing it. Currently the differences from 21.2 are fairly slight. ~user completion works in the minibuffer, a large number of obsolete variables has been removed and indirect buffers have been implemented. Success 21.2-mumble on AIX 4.3.1 25 years, 7 months

The announcement on Sep 29 said '21.2-pre7', but the tarball on ftp.xemacs.org is labelled 21.2-b2. I patched up from a 21.2-b1, and it seems to be working OK, modulo a few gotchas: 1) I needed --with-dialogs=athena --with-dragndrop=no to keep it from dying an early death. 2) Preliminary testing shows that IBM xlc at -O4 does Bad Things to the configure script (namely, the tests that check for a routine 'main()' in a library. It is breaking on the fact that the package include the MANIFEST file in the MANIFEST file and therefore it already has been removed in the previous loop deleting all listed files. Anyway this should all be condition-cased. For instance I might have deleted some .el files by hand. I sent a patch to that effect to xemacs-patches. Jan

I get auctex installed every time I do an update. I agree that regenerating the auto-autoloads.el file from the binary package is something that should be doable. If you can deal with getting some but not all of them back, I'll start migrating them back in today's Lisp package update. I'm not going to have time to regenerate all packages until later in the week. O.K.?

package system is too fragile 25 years, 7 months

The current package delete is great but too optimistic in its operation. I often end up having the delete fail so that the install doesn't work, but the delete has worked enough so that I don't have the package adn so I am left with a subfucntional XEmacs.
