I found your email of almost a year ago, while trying to solve the
same problem myself:

After looking at the code, I'm pretty sure that both gnuserv and
gnuclient need to be modified for a new platform like Carbon, and
this doesn't appear to have happened.
I'm attaching a patch that worked for me, that Andrew can hopefully
apply to the next release.

I did M-x package-get and installed gnus. But then on starting gnus
with M-x gnus, I got the error message
"cannot open load file: %s: sha1"
Installing the ecrypto package fixed it. Perhaps gnus should have an
explicit dependency on ecrypto so that if you install gnus you are
prompted to install ecrypto first.

Thanks! So far, that patch seems to have fixed the problems with KDE's kwin and Gnome's metacity.
Compiz (Novell's combined composite/window manager for Xgl) still has some problems but it seems to be better now, too. It's so new that I wouldn't bother about that yet.

Hi!
I'm running an Ubuntu/Dapper i386 machine. If I have the following in my
config:
(setq menu-accelerator-enabled 'menu-fallback)
xemacs crashes as soon as I press any unbound key C-c or C-x combination.
I.E. if I press C-cP (which is unbound) it will crash. I don't see a
similar crash description in the PROBMELS file. On stdout I see:

Beta testers wanted!
I started work on syncing us up with Emacs comint.el ... oh, I don't
remember now. It was quite a long time ago, though. Anyway, I have had
a candidate sync for a couple of weeks now. I've been using it myself,
but my typical patterns of use only exercise a small part of it. I've
been deliberately using features I don't normally use, but I would feel
better about it if a few other people gave it a try. I'll attach it to
this message.

1) Download the packages that you want to install from:
/ftp.xemacs.org:/pub/xemacs/beta/experimental/packages/
2) Unpack them to: [1]
/usr/local/lib/xemacs/xemacs-packages/
3) Re-start XEmacs.
Using XEmacs Package Tools (XEmacs 21.[245].x):
- ----------------------------------------------
1) Tools -> Packages -> Add Download Site -> Pre-Releases
2) Tools -> Packages -> List and Install
3) Select the packages you wish to install (there are brief
instructions at the bottom of the packages buffer).
4) Packages -> Install/Remove Selected
5) Re-start XEmacs.
Using XEmacs Package Tools (XEmacs 21.1.14):
