I'm running the carbon2 CVS branch of XEmacs on Mac OS X. (Andrew Choi
requested that bugs relating to carbon2 get reported to c.e.x, but I
have also seen this problem on Linux, so it seems to be a more general
XEmacs problem. That's why I'm posting here.)
TRAMP (package version 1.22 from sumo) is unable to find files. I get
lots of messages like this:
itimer "with-timeout<5>" signaled: (void-function with-timeout-handler)
and then:
Invalid state: Bogus value for `default-process-coding-system', nil
Anybody knows what's going on, or can help me debug it?

The current state of move to autoconf 2.5

For those who don't follow -patches closely, Stephen has asked me to hold off
merging autoconf 2.5 support onto the mainline until he's produced a
corresponding patch to internals.texi.
Consequently, if you have a patch that involves changes to the configuration
scripts, feel free to make the change to configure.in. I'll make the
corresponding changes to configure.ac until the move is made.
Hopefully this situation won't last long.

[Bug: 21.4.17] Proportional font too large

Dear Bug Team!
The font resulting from doing `M-x customize-face RET default RET',
activating "Font Family", inserting "helvetica" (without quotation
marks) and clicking "State -> Set for Current Session" is _much_
larger than the default font. This doesn't look quite right.
In ~/.Xdefaults I set
Emacs.Font: -*-terminal-medium-r-*-*-18-*-*-*-*-*-iso8859-*
which gets picked up by XEmacs as well in case this is relevant.
BTW, customizing the default face in XEmacs 21.5 like described above
has no effect at all.

MULE newbie gets into infinite recursion

I'm probably the dumbest idiot on earth: I switched to MULE as my
default environment a couple of weeks ago. This was working fine
until I updated to CVS head today. I was using the following to use
Latin-1 as a default for everything that doesn't have another default
already:

(Is this even remotely the right thing to do? It did work for a
while.)

[Bug: 21.5-b20] Clipboard problem, win32 native build

Dear Bug Team!
I'm having an odd problem with the clipboard with a native windows build of
21.5.20. If I use Windows-style cut-n-paste keys (S-Ins, S-Del, C-Ins), I get
the message "there is no clipboard selection". As a result, I am unable to
cut-n-paste between XEmacs and anything else. I'm also unable to use these
keys to move/copy text within XEmacs. Within XEmacs, though, I'm able to use
the kill ring (C-w, M-w, C-y) with no problems.
I've searched the xemacs-beta mailing list archives and haven't found any
sort of related bug reports. Actually, I'm hard-pressed to believe this is a
bug because it's so basic. I rather suspect it's some sort of problem with my
environment, but I'm using the same .emacs file (no, I haven't converted to
init.el) that I've used for years.
Any thoughts/suggestions?

Using XEmacs Package Tools (XEmacs 21.[245].x):

1) Tools -> Packages -> Add Download Site -> Pre-Releases
2) Tools -> Packages -> List and Install
3) Select the packages you wish to install (there are brief
instructions at the bottom of the packages buffer).
4) Packages -> Install/Remove Selected
5) Re-start XEmacs.
Using XEmacs Package Tools (XEmacs 21.1.14):

1) Options -> Manage Packages -> Add Download Site -> Pre-Releases
2) Options -> Manage Packages -> List and Install
3 - 5) As per XEmacs 21.[245].x.
