[Bug: 21.5-b20] insert-register not working

Dear Bug Team!
The function insert-register has a bug. It calls a function insert-for-yank
that is not defined anywhere. The way to reproduce this bug is
a. Start xemacs
xemacs -q
b. Load any text file
c. Select a region and copy it to a register
C-x r s
d. When you try to insert the register using
C-x r i
following text is seen in the Minibuffer
Symbol's function definition is void: insert-for-yank
A basic grep in the $XEMACS_HOME/lib/xemacs-21.5.b20/lisp did not shown any
file as defining the above function.
Is there a work around ?

[Bug: 21.4.13] Regular expression

Dear Bug Team!
In the file "xml.el" in cvs of gnu emacs there is a regular expression
"\\=\"\\([[:space:][:alnum:]-'()+,./:=?;!*#＠$_%]*\\)\""
Because Xemacs doesn't supports [:space:] and [:alpha:] I tried to use
a modified version of the above regular expression:
"\"\\([ \t\r\na-zA-Z0-9-'()+,./:=?;!*#＠$_%]*\\)\""
Note: I have removed the "\\="
But when I tested it using re-builder on the text
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN"
"http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
It is not matching the "-//W3C...." part in Xemacs, but it does so in
emacs.
As per the documentation which says that "-" should work if it is
after a range, it seems to be some kind of bug in the handling
of regular expressions in Xemacs.
Also, David Kastrup asked me to experiment with
"\"\\([ \t\r\na-zA-Z0-9----'()+,./:=?;!*#＠$_%]*\\)\""
and "\"\\([ \t\r\na-zA-Z0-9---'()+,./:=?;!*#＠$_%]*\\)\""
Both of them work in gnu emacs, but they don't in Xemacs.

Perhaps this was obvious to everyone else, but it occurs to me that once we
have an internal encoding based on the UCS, we can leverage Ben’s work with
the existing Unicode coding systems, which convert between Unicode and the
Mule coding, for redisplay with server-side X11 fonts. Simply convert to the
Mule encoding before using the existing redisplay code, much as the Xft
and Windows code presently converts to Unicode before redisplay.

XFree86 broken the logic behind this bit of code in event-Xt.c:

other way to tell the difference between the shifted
and unshifted version of this key, apply the shift bit.

in the modifiers slot. Neither the characters "a",
"A", "2", nor "＠" normally have the shift bit set.

They (and I imagine x.org, until it’s proven otherwise) are shipping with
keymaps that bind, for example,
derrick [ xmodmap -pke | grep XF86
keycode 63 = KP_Multiply XF86_ClearGrab
[...]
Shift with KP_Multiply to some keysym.
XLookupKeysym(event, 1) returns that keysym, while XLookupString(event, buf,
bufsize, &keysym, &status) with an event that describes a shifted
KP_Multiply keypress returns KP_Multiply in *keysym. Previously, these were
always identical.
I’m sure there is some way to work around this within XEmacs, and it’s
probably going to be ugly and long, because we various input methods,
determined at compile time, that may or may not use XLookupString. Whee.
Dinos, you can edit your XF86Config file, add
Option "HandleSpecialKeys" "Always"
to the ServerFlags section, and add
xmodmap -pke | sed 's/XF86_.*$//g' | xmodmap -
to your X11 initialisation scripts. After that, you should be able to bind
shift plus any of the keypad keys to whatever you want. Note that xmodmap
command may break if you are using an obscure XKB layout; it won’t for any I
have available to me.
