Hello I just want to try the new org.el mode written by Carsten Dominik, he uses Emacs specific stuff like font-lock-add-keywords, however I made grep search over /prefix/lib/xemacs and it seems that this function can be used, however I do not find it's definition. Most other software (including all GNU packages I've tried to build, if you consider that a valid precedent) do have 'check' build the package if necessary so that tests can be run. So while in itself the decision doesn't matter much one way or the other, I think XEmacs should try to follow existing precedent. In other words running 'make check' on a freshly configured tree should be roughly equivalent to 'make && make check', except for better parallelization opportunities. -- Ed Avis <ed.avis(a)kbcfp.com>

Hello, each time I try to go to the menu: options -> Advanced (Customize) -> Emacs -> faces I get stuck with a prompt in the mini-buffer: Your email address?ain＠LLB006 (which is not my email) Am I the first one to encounter this situation on windows 2000 station? So I'm trying to set my email address: [1] Options -> Advanced (Customize) -> Emacs -> Applications -> Mail -> User Mail Address ... And this is what I see: (The arrowhead is copied here as a star *) user-mail-address: * ain(a)cea.fr [State]: you have edited the value as text, but you have not set the option. (mismatch) Full mailing address of this user. * This is initialized based on `mail-host-address', after your init file is read, in case it sets `mail-host-address'. Comment: Parent groups: [Message] [Mail] and in the minibuffer I get: user-mail-address: ain(a)cea\.fr Finally when trying to report (unsuccessfully) on that thing, through M-x report-Xemacs-bug, I've been asked to confirm my email, which I did, and this saved the correct email address. XEmacs 21.5: eldap_i.c bad 22 years, 4 months

Whatever is generating eldap_i.c is leaving off the final semicolon, so that the last line looks like void docs_of_eldap (void) This upsets the compiler (parse error at end of file). If I manually add the missing semicolon, it builds okay. -- Ed Avis <ed.avis(a)kbcfp.com>

I have found a strange behaviour of the menu selecting by mouse: When I select a menu at fisrt time I could not select any item from it. XEmacs 21.5 Makefile: 'make check' should build first 22 years, 4 months

comments on xemacs --with-gtk 22 years, 4 months

Hi, Last week I experimented by chance a little with xemacs built with gtk. Overall I thought it was working much better than last time I tried ( admittedly a long time ago...). In fact with just a little polishing I would be pretty happy about using gtk as the default X toolkit. The main sticking point I noticed were: * the buffer tabs don't seem to work (display) at all, but just leave a gap under the toolbar * the button widgets rendered by gtk in customize don't have any label on them, and the choice selector buttons aren't using gtk apparently How much work would it be to fix these, in view of the next version of Emacs having gtk2 support? Are there any other show-stopping problems to be aware of? Cheers, Jens
