Hi,
the new code in newcomment.el does one unpleasant thing. Adding and
removing from comments does not exactly the same. The value of
`comment-padding' gets inserted in between comment and code but is not
removed.
Eg.:
(defun foo ()
(bar baz))
becomes with `comment-region'
; (defun foo ()
; (bar baz))
but if I now remove the comment (with `C-u M-x comment-region' or
`uncomment-region') I have to read:
(defun foo ()
(bar baz))
The space is `comment-padding'. This simple patch tries to solve that
problem.

I have trouble opening binary files. If I try to do so via menu
(File->Open) I get following debuggging information:

However, If I use command find-file I'm asked to enter an
encryption-key. I can ignore that and open the file.

Xemacs crashes intermittently when VM tries a
visit-folder-in-other-frame. This happens with various
mailboxes/folders, and does not happen every time.
Debug info:
Fatal error (11).
Your files have been auto-saved.
Use `M-x recover-session' to recover them.
If you have access to the PROBLEMS file that came with your
version of XEmacs, please check to see if your crash is described
there, as there may be a workaround available.
Otherwise, please report this bug by running the send-pr
script included with XEmacs, or selecting `Send Bug Report'
from the help menu.
As a last resort send ordinary email to `crashes(a)xemacs.org'.
*MAKE SURE* to include the information in the command
M-x describe-installation.
If at all possible, *please* try to obtain a C stack backtrace;
it will help us immensely in determining what went wrong.
To do this, locate the core file that was produced as a result
of this crash (it's usually called `core' and is located in the
directory in which you started the editor, or maybe in your home
directory), and type

Matthew Persico asked that we remove a bunch of trailing commas to
reduce warnings on Solaris 2.7 machines. That seems like a good idea,
since those trailing commas are the main reason why gcc's "-W" produces
unusably voluminous output. Is there any reason why this should not be
done?
I'm not so sure about the signed octal character constants, though.

In XEmacs 21.4 I used to map the C-z key to undo. Now in the latest
beta this does not work anymore.
I tried both this
(global-set-key [(control z)] 'undo)
and this
(define-key global-map [(control z)] 'undo)
to no avail.
After evaluating either of these expressions C-h k C-z still returns
C-z runs `zap-up-to-char'.

Dear Bug Team!
I just sent a bug report on walk-windows. I see now that there is a
fix of sorts to this in xemacs-21.5.11. I just wanted to say that you
may still want to consider switching to the version of walk-windows I
submitted. Its virtue is that it uses next-window itself to handle the
class of windows specified by the optional arguments, rather than
trying to construct an arg to selected-window which will produce a
window within that class. There will still be cases in which that
approach will fail, since selected-window has different arguments than
next-window, and so you can't always choose an argument to
selected-window which will be guaranteed to produce a window
compatible with a given combination of arguments to next-window.

Hi,
I forward a message from Dave Love. There is a problem in the actual
beta version of Gnus (5.10.3) and the rfc2047 encoding of message
headers. sadly this bug seems only to occur if you also use a beta
XEmacs. XEmacs from the 21.4 series seem to have no problems with the
new code in rfc2047.el.
In another posting dave wrote that he's not sure about the syntax table
being at fault. It could also be `mm-find-mime-charset-region'.
Anyway: what can be done to find the error?

What happens:
-------------
walk-windows hangs when its which-frames argument is for a different
frame than the selected frame at the time of the call to walk-windows.
How to reproduce:
-----------------
In a freshly-started xemacs with no init file (I ran with -q option),
in the *scratch* lisp-interaction buffer, type:
(setq aframe (make-frame))C-j
Now reselect the original frame that xemacs started with, and type
into the same *scratch* buffer there:
(walk-windows 'window-buffer t aframe)C-j
Xemacs enters an infinite loop, as can be verified by
critical-quitting into the debugger. I feel what should have happened
is for this call to return nil quickly, as of course there is only one
window in the frame aframe at this point.
My analysis offered for your consideration:

The definition of walk-windows is in lib/xemacs-21.4.12/lisp, and I
reproduce it here:

The underlying problem is the following: if the class of windows
described by the three arguments passed through to next-window [namely
minibuf, which-frames, and which-devices] does not include the
(selected-window) at the time of the invocation of walk-windows, then
walk-windows-current can never end up eq to walk-windows-start as a
result of a call to next-window. Indeed, the special treatment of the
minibuf argument in the case that (selected-window) is
window-minibuffer-p is just a workaround to this same problem in the
case of minibuf status. But rather than altering the user's request so
that the (selected-window) is one of the potential outputs of
next-window, it seems preferable to me to use the first *output* of
next-window as the sentinel for being done, and leave the user's
request alone. Here is my suggested reimplementation of walk-window
which avoids the infinite loop in all cases in which the function
called does not alter the window configuration:

Note that if FUNCTION alters the configuration of windows,
`walk-windows' may miss windows and/or enter an infinite loop."

Dear Bug Team!
In XEmacs 21.5.13, calling vm-other-window gives me the message
"Invalid operation: No other window to side of this one" and then gets
stuck in the minibuffer. The error occurs within
enlarge-window-pixels. Here is the lisp backtrace:
I can manually switch to the summary buffer, and then use vm normally
(as you see), so this is not a critical problem. The version of vm is
7.15; XEmacs 21.4.8 ran the same version with no error.

Hi,
I (finally) came around last night and built a new binary on Windows
for the latest XEmacs code from CVS.
I built two versions:
One with error checking and debug enabled and one without (see below).
The version with debug and error checking enabled does not show
the "Symbol's value as variable is void: region" error but the one
without debugging enabled does.
Here's a stacktrace that happens when I try to select a piece
of text using SHIFT-left arrow:
