Hi Folks, Thanks for your responses. I got the sumo package and installed it in the $prefix/lib/xemacs dir. SO under $prefix/lib I have xemacs dir and xemacs-21.4.3 dir. It looks like it is not being picked up by xemacs. What do I have to do now? The site-start.el that was came with the xemacs on solaris from sun(?) had the following code to enable tooltalk and sunpro. (when (featurep 'tooltalk) (load "tooltalk-macros") (load "tooltalk-util") (load "tooltalk-init")) (when (featurep 'sparcworks) (load "sunpro-init") (load "ring") (load "comint") (load "annotations") (sunpro-startup)) Anyway, Sunpro-startup calls turn-on-pending-delete which calls pending-delete-mode. 21.4.4-rc3 build failures (sparc-sun-solaris2.8) 22 years, 9 months

Only 84 of the 96 builds actually succeeded. On the plus side the 12 failures were all gnome related. This is on Solaris 2.8, gcc, and the Gnome 1.4 snapshots from Sun. The failure is: ./temacs -nd -batch -l /net/asgard/raid/home/src/xemacs-21.4-rc/src/../lisp/update-elc.el ld.so.1: ./temacs: fatal: relocation error: file /opt/gnome-1.4/lib/libgnomeui.so.32: symbol gnome_help_display: referenced symbol not found pdump builds, but gets a similar error at run time. [xemacs]./sparc-sun-solaris2.8/debug/gnome/mule/union/pdump/src/xemacs ld.so.1: ./sparc-sun-solaris2.8/debug/gnome/mule/union/pdump/src/xemacs: fatal: relocation error: file /opt/gnome-1.4/lib/libgnomeui.so.32: symbol gnome_help_display: referenced symbol not found Killed I will be sending in the official build reports later today. -bp -- Ceterum censeo vi esse delendam

Hi Folks, When I try to run xemacs-21.4.2, I get an error with the init.el that is supplied by the XEmacs itself. My system is SunOS 5.7 The error says" Error in init file: Symbol's function definition is void: pending-delete-mode To ensure normal operation, you should investigate the cause of the error in your initialization file and remove it. Use the `-debug-init' option to XEmacs to view a complete error backtrace. First of all the -debug-init did not do shit. Second of all why doesn�t it print the line number in the init file that causes the problem? Thirdly why does it bail out of the init file because of one stinking error? Changes to avoid (inappropriate) font-locking during hexl-find-file 22 years, 9 months

Hello! I fixed the following problem: When hexl-find-file opens a file for which font-locking is enabled (eg. a source code file), the buffer is font-locked before hexlify-buffer is called. This wastes time and can lead to inappropriate font-locking in the (then hexlified) buffer. My solution is: * in lisp/files.el: - add a variable 'after-find-file-nomodes' - modify 'after-find-file' so it doesn't alter the file's mode if the variable 'after-find-file-nomodes' is non-nil. * in xemacs-packages/lisp/text-modes/hexl.el: - bind 'after-find-file-nomodes' to 't' when calling 'find-file'. If this solution is acceptable, I will create a patch. (Should I create separate patches for lisp/files.el and the package text-modes?) -Edwin
