Please describe exactly what actions triggered the bug
and the precise symptoms of the bug:
the docstring sequence \\[...] is supposed to replace the named
function with the key sequence that is bound to that function. if the
function is not bound to a key sequence it produces a sequence of
"M-x" followed by the function name, even if M-x is not bound or not
bound to execute-extended-function, i.e., it should attempt to resolve
it as if \\[execute-extended-function] had preceeded \\[...].

[PATCH] special handling for `iso-next-group' is needed

Hello,
I've finally properly configured my xkb and noticed the following
misfeature (other users are reporting that, too).
Pre-notice for non-English-only users: when xkb switches "Xkb Group"
(e.g., from English to Cyrillic), it sends a special keysym
`iso-next-group' to a program.
Xemacs needs to somehow handle this keysym specially in two cases:
- when user is switching the Xkb group, XEmacs says that
"'iso-next-group' not defined". It should not. The following patch
fixes that for both Mule and non-Mule (thanks to awn for proper
defun) (is the [Control iso-next-group] handling really necessary?):

Second issue is with "C-h k" sequence. You cannot look what is bound
to a Cyrillic character. When you try to do that, the sequence of
keys pressed is
C-h k iso-next-group Cyrillic_ef
and so it shows you what is bound to 'iso-next-group' keysym. I can
not understand how to fix that. C-h k should somehow ignore certain
keysyms completely, or something like that.
The second issue is less important than the first one, which I
consider worth fixing in the next XEmacs release.

PLEASE TEST: 21.4.5 prerelease test 1: Fix for progress gauge flashing under openmotif; mouse-track-insert backport from 21.5 CVS

This prerelease test includes the patches described below. If you
use a Motif platform, or `mouse-track-insert' (especially on Windows),
I would appreciate tests and reports. (NB there is no fix yet for the
problems Adrian has been reporting with gc-in-window-procedure, so
this version may not be very stable under Windows.)
Font-locking a big file with progress gauges on should be a good test
of Andy's progress gauge work.
`mouse-track-insert' is described below. It is normally bound to
C-button1. If it is not, you should bind it to a mouse button:
"(define-key global-map [(control button1)] 'mouse-track-insert)"
gives the default binding, you may want something else (use C-h k
<mouse click> to see if something is already bound to the mouse).
If you don't use that platform or feature, tests are probably not very
useful. These changes should be fairly independent of other code.
No tarballs, "cvs update -r candidate-21-4".
Andy, Adrian, I'd appreciate it if you'd watch this thread.
Adrian, if you have real ChangeLogs offhand, it would be nice. If
not, I'll get to them when I get back.

built from latest CVS on Windows 2000 SP2.
First time iconification works fine.
After restoring the XEmacs frame via the Windows taskbar, subsequent
use of
C-x C-z runs the command suspend-or-iconify-emacs
fails to work and reports
already iconified?
in the minibuffer.
My neighbors have already been interrogated and they all have alibis.

This script reads a file produced from the command:
xemacs -batch -vanilla -f list-load-path-shadows
Note you must edit the output to remove the crud at the beginning and
end. Then run this script with that file as stdin:

Not sure if I report this before, but...
For some reason that I haven't isolated, Dired often (but not always)
fails to reuse a buffer. That is, if I run dired on a directory, then
quit that buffer, then re-dired the directory, Dired will create a new
buffer ("dir<2>") rather than reuse the old buffer ("dir"). This
doesn't happen all the time, but it does happen (for me) most of the
time.
