Hi Folks! Found a little glitch to keep me from releasing the SUMOs :-( There was a problem with the dictionary package. I have just uploaded a new package to the Pre-Release directory. I'd really appreciate it if you could install it and test it for me. The problem only affected non-Mule XEmacsen, so you people who don't run Mule... I wanna hear from you. :-) Recipe for reproducing the (hopefully fixed, so you won't see it) bug: --------------------------------------------------------------------- M-x dictionary-search RET Installing It: ============= Manually: -------- 1) Download the package from: /ftp.xemacs.org:/pub/xemacs/beta/experimental\ /packages/dictionary-1.05-pkg.tar.gz 2) Unpack it to: /usr/local/lib/xemacs/xemacs-packages/ 3) Re-start XEmacs. Using XEmacs Package Tools (XEmacs 21.[245].x): ---------------------------------------------- 1) Tools -> Packages -> Add Download Site -> Pre-Releases 2) Tools -> Packages -> List and Install 3) Select the dictionary package (there are brief instructions at the bottom of the packages buffer). 4) Packages -> Install/Remove Selected 5) Re-start XEmacs. isearch problems 22 years, 4 months

I did some debugging of the isearch problems which I am now reasonably able to reproduce. When the problem occurs search-ring does not get updated - hence why re-searching always uses the previous match. The weird thing is that if I put debug (a message saying what was saved) in isearch-update-ring and eval it the problem goes away. So I'm wondering whether there is some sort of race condition or byte-compiler problem. Also the weird thing is that when the problem occurs there is a message that flashes up before "Isearch: whatever" which I can't read. I'll see if I can debug some more but its very difficult to pin down. andy
