XEmacs 21.0.67 "20 minutes to 日光" is released 25 years, 1 month

Greetings from Tsukuba Japan and day 3 of the m17n99 XEmacs/Free Software Mule symposium. Today's guest XEmacs releaser is Didier Verna -- see group picture at a URL to be named later. The SUMO lisp and packaged lisp will be updated before the end of the month. Time constraints and the m17n99 Symposium have prevented getting it updated earlier. The next beta release of 21.2 will be made sometime around the first weekend of April and the first 21.1 release will be made about the same time. to 21.0.67 "20 minutes to Nikko" -- last minute bug & doc fixes

If everything goes well, we will be releasing the final XEmacs 21.0 in a couple of hours. Today's guest XEmacs releaser will be Didier Verna. Due to time constraints, updated SUMO kits won't be available until Sunday or Monday. The next XEmacs 21.2 beta and the first XEmacs 21.1 maintenance release are scheduled for approximately the first weekend of April.

image-mode and format-alist 25 years, 1 month

VM needs to use insert-file-contents to insert file contents into MIME messages. If VM inserts an image, image-mode kicks in because of all the stuff heaped on format-alist. This breaks VM. I could use insert-file-contents-literally and have been doing so until recently, but this means EFS no longer works for retrieving files to be attached. So I'm stuck. I think image-mode is hacking into the file reading code at too low a level. The image-mode mode stuff ought to be removed from format-alist. image-mode's type detection stuff should be able to work as a find-file hook. At that level, it won't interfere with insert-file-contents.

(speedbar-get-focus) loses focus when run 1st time? 25 years, 1 month

The following message is a courtesy copy of an article that has been posted to comp.emacs.xemacs as well. Hi, I'm using speedbar 0.8.1 (with XEmacs 21.2.13 under NT). I have bound speedbar-get-focus to the F2 key. The problem is - when I press F2 while the speedbar frame has not been created yet, it flashes briefly, but immediately after the main frame is reselected. When there already *is* the speedbar frame, all works well - i.e. F2 toggles between the two frames. A weird thing is - if I M-x speedbar-get-focus RET, it works as expected even the 1st time... Is somebody else experiencing this? Any advice on how to fix it/where to look? Thanks. -- Cheers, -Dima.

find-file-compare-truenames 25 years, 1 month

This works if any component of the pathname (including a non- terminal component) is a symbolic link as well, but doesn't work with hard links (nothing does). " Isn't this strictly incorrect? I can determine the inodes of the files in question (given either paths or file descriptors), and determine if the two files are indeed two paths to the same file. Right? Or does this mean "(nothing in XEmacs does)"? -Justin vallon(a)mindspring.com

imenu(/python-mode): clases are there, then not, then there 25 years, 1 month

I am glad to see that in the latest xemacs beta imenu now works fairly well with Python mode. except.... when i first load in a python file, and check IM-Python, the classes and functions are all listed fine, and if i choose an item, the cursor gets shipped to taht location. However ... if i go back now and check IM-Python, the global functions are still listed there, but the classes are gone. if i do rescan, they're back, but every time i hit IM-Python (whether i select anything or not), it has the effect of toggling off the class items which were there after a rescan. i looked through imenu.el but nothing pops out at me as the cause of this toggling behavior. any hints? les schaffer -------------------------------- xemacs: 21.2-b13 python-mode: 3.90 imenu: none listed ( from xemacs-base ) xemacs-base: 1.30 (pkg)
