================================================================
Dear Bug Team!
When the auto-revert system (I have it set through
global-auto-revert-mode, set through customize) reverts a buffer, the
buffer is marked modified afterwards. Obviously, the buffer is not
modified before it is auto-reverted (it wouldn't be reverted then),
but afterwards it is.
I do not have any revert hooks set.
A little investigation showed that this happens in the call to
set-buffer-file-coding-system in the function revert-buffer in
files.el.
I am using XEmacs from Fedora 7. It is fully updated.

Defaulting to the GNU Emacs-derived `sendmail.el' mail client. This facility,
while part of base XEmacs, is heinously underfeatured, and not going to get
better in the medium term. We include it so that bug reports work without
packages; we suggest that you choose and/or install one of the other mail
clients from packages if you're doing something other than M-x
report-xemacs-bug , or even if you are reporting bugs regularly.
To choose a package from those installed, click on "Options" ->
"Internet" -> "Compose Mail With ..." and decide on one from the
list. Gnus and VM are full-featured and have active user communities.
To disable this warning and stick with the old behavior, you can explicitly
initialize `mail-user-agent' to 'sendmail-user-agent .

Hi,
(I'm sure I posted this earler but it doesn't seem to have made it
into the maillist. So here goes once again ...)
I have continued using C++ for my XEmacs build and while the latest
patches have improved the situation the following problems still
exists. Below follows:
- Build report
- make -k for further problems
- Patch that fixes it (but maybe just by making the compiler silent)

Tom,
I cannot reproduce this. I am getting /dir1/dir2/ and /dir1/ to compare with or
without slashes. This works the same both in GNU Emacs and XEmacs.

Hi folks,
I'm one of the maintainers of TNT, an IM client for Emacs.
I use TNT daily on two machines, but in the last few days I am unable
to establish a connection from my laptop. The connection attempt never
returns an error, but nothing seems to happen.
If I quit XEmacs, I see the expected process list:
> Proc Status Buffer Tty Command
> ---- ------ ------ --- -------
> toc open (none) (none) network stream connection 5190(a)toc.oscar.aol.com
...and the "active processes exist; kill them and exit anyway" question.
Under the hood, we connect to AIM as follows:
(setq tocstr-process (open-network-stream "toc" nil host port))
--
I'm running
XEmacs 21.4 (patch 13) "Rational FORTRAN" [Lucid] (i586-pc-win32) of Sun May 25 2003 on TSUNAMI
...though I just downloaded and installed 21.4.19, and it exhibits the
same problem. And TNT definitely still works fine on my desktop, which
is on the same network as the laptop! However, I can telnet to
toc.oscar.aol.com 5190 from the laptop just fine.
I've rebooted; I've run -vanilla; I've done everything I can think of and
it has no effect. And again, this machine has been super-stable and TNT
has been very reliable, until a couple of days ago. Nothing has changed
on this machine in that time.
I know this is a weird problem description, but does anyone have any
ideas what could be happening, or how I might start debugging this?
(Oddly enough, I've had to move to Emacs for other reasons but I keep a
copy of XEmacs running only to use TNT! Emacs never establishes a
connection for me; the symptoms are very similar to this though the cause
may well be completely different.)
Thanks!

On newsgroup "comp.emacs.xemacs" Adrian invited me to join this
discussion. I have experienced "hangs" while decoding emails in
21.4.19. I can offer the following web link
http://home.fnal.gov/~wehmann/mmencode/tests.html
which has further discussion and links to one of the files that causes
a "hang". This file is "dissected" until it doesn't hang.
