I can't compile xemacs sjt-xft for a testing debian 19 years, 10 months

Hello everybody, tell me if I'm not in the right mailing-list. I try to use xemacs with antialiased fonts on my laptop. hmm, it would be nice to have something more confident that would convince me that it's in fact related to the syntax tables. usually you should be able to attach, but try it now, and if it doesn't work, restart xemacs under a debugger, because some sort of stack trace would make a *huge* difference. ------- Original Message ------- On Wed, 12 Jan 2005 12:31:55 +0900 Stephen J. Every time you compile one of the beta releases, please send mail to <xemacs-build-reports(a)xemacs.org> with the following information: - what hardware/OS you tried - version of X11 - which libraries were used, and versions (Motif, Athena, Xpm) - whether you were successful; if not, what happened - whether you needed to make any changes to make it run - how much time you have spent running the beta recently Emacs can generate a build report for you. All you need to do is: 1. M-x customize-group RET build-report RET Customize and save any settings you change. 2. M-x build-report RET Any time you find a bug, try to reproduce it with -q. If it's display related, try it with no X resources loaded. If the bug goes away, try to narrow it down to the particular resource that is problematic. Always report bugs to the xemacs-beta list. DO NOT report them directly to a maintainer. If at all possible get the full distribution instead of applying the patches. It's less prone to error that way, and you're less likely to forget to report about other changes you've had to make. If you have to make changes, it's easier if you send patches than if you just say what changes to make. When sending patches, please use unified diffs (diff -u). That bears repeating. Building xemacs-21.5.18: Buffer is read-only: #<buffer "finder-inf.el"> (fwd) 19 years, 10 months

(Using an old version of xemacs and M-x report-emacs-bug sent a message to the wrong address (xemacs(a)xemacs.org). I am resending it to xemacs-beta. I have also attached a bzip2'd transcript of the build, in case anyone is interested.) Because I have xemacs already installed on my system I had a copy of finder-inf.el and its .elc file in /usr/share/xemacs-21.5-b18/. I tried getting rid of those, but 'make -C src' still gives the same error. FWIW, I am building xemacs as non-root. Please let me know if you're able to reproduce this. -- Ed Avis <ed(a)membled.com>
