XEmacs and GNOME 2.4 20 years, 11 months

Hi, I'm a usual GNU Emacs user but I wanted to give XEmacs a try. Once I launched XEmacs (compiled with no mule and no gtk/gnome), I tried to maximize it via Alt+F10: this made XEmacs enter an infinite loop. I'm running GNOME 2.4 from Debian unstable with the Metacity window manager. It looks like it is not reproducible when XEmacs is compiled with gtk/gnome. My .Xresources contains the following GNU Emacs settings: -=-=-=-=- ! Emacs Emacs.background: gray80 Emacs.foreground: black Emacs.font: 9x15 Emacs.geometry: 139X63+0+0 Emacs.toolBar: 0 Emacs.menuBar: off Emacs.pane.menubar.background: grey80 Emacs.pane.menubar.font: 9x15 -=-=-=-=- Cheers, -- Jérôme Marant

Modeline font gets screwed up 20 years, 11 months

Hi, I have posted this message to comp.emacs.xemacs as well, but later thought that this would be a more appropriate place. Sorry for the un-neccessary copies. Now for the bug: I have noticed some strange behaviour with respect to the modeline font settings. I customized the modeline font from the 'Edit Faces' menu option and set it to Helvetica. Often, however, xemacs comes up with some other wierd font. I have to open my ~/.xemacs/custom.el file and cut out the modeline font customization and re-paste it elsewhere in the file in order to restore Helvetica as my font. There is a pattern to this. It seems that whenever the ~/.xemacs/custom.el file is modified, the modeline font customization gets screwed up. The default font is not affected though. I am not subscribed to this list, so please Cc me any replies. Regards, - Apurva
