Dear Bug Team!
I sent in a bug report earlier on this same crash. I have found a way to
duplicate the crash and have also decoded the core file.
To duplicate the crash:
Open 2 frames.
Maximize one of the frames.
Unmaximize the frame.
Maximize the frame again.
Use the mouse to select the Options window.
Voila! a crash.

Xemacs beta crashed when I selected the Options menu. I was in a maximized
frame with 2 windows. Here is the lisp backtrace:

This appears to be a byte-compiler bug in XEmacs which I have been unable to
track down. If you compile stuff yourself it appears to work ok, but for
some reason the build process does something weird to the bytecode. The
actual error indicates corrupted bytecode.

Win32 Download of XEmacs via setup.exe

Although there is a Win32 binary of XEmacs 21.1.14, setup can neither see it nor download it from XEmacs.org.
Setup lists package vc 1.37 (new), but cannot down load it. The messages is "Unable to download packages/vc-1.37-pkg-tar-gz"

Precisely! Jake wants to see the author-version of the already
installed package. And the only way to do that is to store it some
place where it won't be overwritten by the package-index file.

Yes.
The information displayed by `pui-display-info' is confusing. It
should probably spit out something like...
Installed upstream ver: y.yy.y Available Upstream ver: z.zz.z
...to the minibuffer, and a whole heap of other stuff to the
balloon-help frame.
Then it would be a good idea to map 'm' to a function that displays
the package's maintainer.

from Martin Stjernholm who said, in part:
