Here is a simple patch to uncompress.el that allows it to support .tgz (tar gzip) files. I use it mainly from dired to uncompress and open the tar file. I don't know if it is kosher to change FSF files that are synced and I have no access to emacs source, so I have posted this to xemacs-beta in the hopes it will be useful to someone. Another 21.2.19 crash 25 years, 3 months

I don't recall exactly what I was doing, even though it happened just a minute ago. Some general editing and switching between two buffers when Boom! xemacs crashes. The gdb traceback is appended. This is a Solaris 2.5.1 system compiled with gcc 2.7.2.2, Openwin. I have to say, b19 has been the least stable beta for me since 21.1 or maybe even earlier. :-( I have the core file still, so if you want more info, I can supply it. I just did a `cvs update' this morning, and the build fails miserably when it gets to the texinfo stuff. I didn't know XEmacs still had a coarse version. lcs.mit.edu suggests that mly is at xerox now, if anyone cares.

Doesn't db2 include ndbm emulation? So look for db.h first, and then ndbm.h? This is just from rather old memory.
