Yes, i would consider this a window manager bug. It should use a state that maps more naturally on the Workspace concept. FVWM uses Invisible+Mapped which is OK (In fact XEmacs is optimized by that case). Telling the hidden frames they are iconified would also be fine. Jan

Ok, so you plan to force me to learn more `make' tricks. :-) Why don't I get what I've done squared away and looking pretty, then send it in for yous to look over. Perhaps it can become part of whatever changes might break whatever? I'll show it to yous and let yous decide. (later today... I'm in a silly "teraterm" on an NT box at the library right now... It's difficult to work from.) Is it Ok to assume that GNU make will be used? Can we require that? (I hope so. It's the only one I know at all.)

Debian XBooks (Was: Re: Putting it all together) 25 years, 4 months

Those docs are in the Debian `xbooks' package. If you don't have a Debian box handy, you can unpack the .deb using `ar' and `tar'. There's a search clicker at <URL:http://www.debian.org/>; look for "xbooks", and follow the link to download it.
