configured using `configure --libs=-ldl --with-modules --debug=no --error-checking=none'
Please describe exactly what actions triggered the bug
and the precise symptoms of the bug:
Reading mail in Pterodactyl Gnus, garbage collection happened. I got the
following output from gdb.
This was 100% reproducible while reading mail. This is from a build done
at 10:41 today with the latest CVS sources.
I suspect that CGG 2.95 might be at fault and will do a rebuild with
'-fno-strict-alias' active. Results as they come in.

XEmacs 21.1.6 for MS Windows is released.

The XEmacs team are proud to announce the availability of a self installing
binary kit of XEmacs 21.1.6 for Microsoft Windows.
The kit is located at ftp://ftp.xemacs.org/pub/xemacs/binary-kits/win32/
and all the usual mirrors.
There are some known problems with this xemacs binary on some MS Windows
machines and we expect to release a 21.1.7 kit as soon as they are
resolved. If the installer does not work for you then please sit tight
until then.

the attached patch.

Having tested this with 2.95, 2.95 -fno-strict-aliasing and 2.7.2.3, I
can say that:

is the definite point of failure. Something is bad down here.
When I display images, regardless of the build, I get a SIGSEGV pretty
quickly. With no images, the binary has been stable and solid for a
while now. Certainly I can happily read mail in gnus and have been doing
so for half an hour now.
So, it seems that the recent image changes have a cleanup problem, at
least on Linux.

As in my previous bug report, I compiled with '-fno-strict-aliasing' to
determine if this was the cause of the problems with the gcc 2.95.2(pre)
compiler from debian unstable.
The problem occurred again, in a different location. I had been testing
with picons disabled in gnus as it seemed to be related to garbage
collection of images. There had been no images displayed or used to this
point, I believe.

21.2-b19 crash on Solaris 2.7

We finally moved over to 2.7 here, and I rebuilt 21.2-b19 on Solaris
2.7 with gcc 2.7.2.2.
See the attached Installation file for specifics.
I got the following crash while trying to view a new message in VM.
VM was displaying an html message, I think, when it crashed. The lisp
and C tracebacks are given below. I tried to view the message just
now, and it shows up just fine.

It seem that it was really the unexec code in unexelf.c.
I simply copied the object file (unexelf.o) from version 4
to the sources of version 7 and dumped a new xemacs (on jura).
And guess what?
Everything works really fine
(no segfaults, no bus errors, no illegal instructions).
I dumped xemacs again on some of the other machines and
got the same result :)) .
I would apprechiate to be told where the bug (if there's a bug)
exactly is (should also be replied to the newsgroup), when
somebody of your development team detects it.
