The customize code was changed heavily in 21.2 (theme support) but it should not be much slower. Jan

saving customizations became _really_ slow 26 years

i hve noticed that saving customizations has become _really_ slow do someone else noticed this behaviour? i'd say that it happened at some point in 21.2, as i have 21.0.67, aka 21.1, on hpux and it is _fast_ at saving options

Animated gif patch 26 years

This patch implements animated gifs, but also as a consequence optimizes the redisplay handling of glyphs and subwindows somewhat which I hope to use in optimizing layout handling. I have only tested this with one animated glyph so I'm guessing there may be some bizarre formats that are not handled correctly. I'm hoping I haven't broken gutter display in the process, the way I'm doing things now is more correct but also slightly different and therefore has the potential for new bugs.
