GifLib 3.1? 26 years, 4 months

I just realized my build of XEmacs 21.0b46 doesn't grok GIF, most likely because (as configure --help sez) I don't have "GifLib 3.1 or greater". Contrary to the help docs, the XEmacs FTP site does *not* appear to have GifLib 3.1. Doing a Websearch for GifLib, I've only been able to find GifLib 3.0 at Eric Raymond's site: <http://sagan.earthspace.net/~esr/giflib/> a.k.a. <http://www.ccil.org/esr/giflib/> Before I go and download and build 3.0, I just want to know if 3.0 will work, and if not, where I can get 3.1 from. (You can also take this message as a gentle reminder to the person maintaining the XEmacs aux directory that the appropriate GifLib needs to be uploaded there ;-). Thanks, -Barry

I just want to point out that the note should read something along the lines of this: If you compile in Drag-and-Drop, you may not be able to use multiple X displays successfully. If the two servers are from different vendors, the results may be unpredictable. -- Colin

Offix on SunOS 4.1.4 26 years, 4 months

My configure does include offix support by default, but what is it? Can it work on my poor ol' SunOS which runs fvwm window manager (no CDE or OpenWin)? If yes, how do I use it?
