Attention J-PEG Shoppers - JPEG Lib 6B Sucks 26 years, 4 months

When version 6B of the JPEG lib came out, I installed it, but didn't check it. Today, when I built B48, I noticed that I can't display any JPEG image inline (when sent as MIME attachment). I restored JPEG 6A and everything is cool now. So, at least on SunOS 4.1.4 and X11R5, 6B does not work. BTW, the error I got was something about bad jpeg format, which is crap - images show just fine in 'xv' and 'xa'. -- /* Amir J. Minor config bug 26 years, 4 months

My config explicitly says --with-sound=both, since I have NAS installed, plus SunOS has native sound support (which is in /usr/demo/SOUND/libaudio.a.) So why does all the linking commands use only the native one, e.g. this: gcc -g -O -ansi -Demacs -I../src -DHAVE_CONFIG_H \ /disk1/xemacs-21.0/lib-src/hexl.c -Xlinker -Bstatic \ -ltermcap /usr/demo/SOUND/libaudio.a -lkvm -lm -o hexl IMHO, either the sound stuff should not be included here at all (AFAIK, no external progs use it anyway), or both libs should be used. Isn't it about time the screen-* aliases rode off into the sunset? They've been 'obsolete for three years (since XEmacs 19.12) and aren't needed for FSF Emacs compatibility.
