You must have the `mule-base' package installed prior to building XEmacs/Mule, you need not have any packages installed prior to building a regular XEmacs. You'll need packages to run comfortably later on, but the absence shouldn't affect building.

apropos.el/hyper-apropos.el hate C++[1]. This has never worked right, but earlier XEmacsen didn't puke quite this badly. Repeat by: $ xemacs -vanilla M-x apropos ^c++ [BEEP]Invalid regexp: "Invalid preceding regular expression" M-x hyper-apropos ^c++ [BEEP]Invalid regexp: "Invalid preceding regular expression" Footnotes: [1] Or maybe they just have good taste in Computer Languages? :-)

OpenBSD support for XEmacs 21.0b40 26 years, 6 months

As promised last week I made my patches against the most recent sources. The changes in config.sub and configure.in are copied from the NetBSD entries and somewhat inspired by FSF Emacs. I also added __OpenBSD__ to #ifdef __NetBSD__ wherever I found it. I also added a openbsd.h file which includes netbsd.h at the moment. *NOTE* Autoconf needs to be run to build a new configure. I didn't include the very long patch for it here.
