M-y is stubborn

This bug report will be sent to the XEmacs Development Team, not to your local site managers!! Please write in English, because the XEmacs maintainers do not have translators to read other languages for them. In XEmacs 21.2 (beta46) "Urania" [Lucid] (sparc-sun-solaris2.8) of Tue Apr 10 2001 on sibelius configured using `configure --prefix=/s/chopin/d/proj/meps/common' Please describe exactly what actions triggered the bug and the precise symptoms of the bug: I have noticed that when I yank text with C-y and then want to go back through the kill ring with M-y it takes several M-y's before the first thing yanked is replaced by something different. I have noticed this for a while across several versions, I just finely got irritated enough to complain about it ;-) The recent keystrokes below contain my entire test run in a vanilla xemacs. I believe the the first M-y should have altered my inserted text but in this case it did not change until the fourth try.
