How do you do that and still keep Mule-UCS enabled for the characters

I don't think any serious attempts should be made to improve Unicode
support in 21.4.
I tend to agree, modulo a 10-line patch that makes 'everything just work'. :-)
I keep trying to avoid adding stuff to 21.4 for 2 primary reasons:
1. (This is the obvious one) - no new code means no new bugs.
2. No new features in 21.4 keeps some tension on actually getting a
22.0 out the door.
At the risk of starting a new thread under an old subject, when in
2006 should we plan on releasing 22.0?
