I don't think that it's TrueType fonts, though; I don't use xfstt (I don't have a font server on my FontPath), I don't think my X server (XF86_SVGA 3.3.3.1 as implemented in Debian's xserver-svga_3.3.3.1-10 package) is TrueType-enabled, but I can't swear to that, and I don't think I have any TrueType fonts installed on my font path. But you're not guaranteed to be running without TrueType fonts.
