My sun at work is currently switched off (it's too loud and it
has no
use -- besides compiling and testing XEmacs :-) ), so I can't test
dtterm/dtpad from here. Tomorrow I'll try if I can enter somehow
japanese characters, but I don't know how to do it with a german sun
keyboard. Perhaps you can give me a hint how one types in japanese in
dt* apps with latin keyboards?
You only need the letters displayed in something that supports
dragging. Try listing out one of the files in XEmacs that contains
Japanese. src/mule-canna.c is one, lisp/mule/japanese.el is another.
mule-canna.c is EUC encoded and that might not work in a German
environment. Urgh. The other files are ISO 2022 and if a Japanese
dtterm doesn't grok it, it is unlikely that a German one will.
I think I remember a login option with my CDE where I could choose
the
language, and if I remember right, there was also japanese in it.
O.K. Try that. To type Japanese in you will need an XIM server
unless you have Canna or Wnn4 installed. I forget what the name of
the Sun XIM server is, but it should be started automagically in a
Japanese environment. Do you have kinput2 and/or kterm?
