Hi Ilya, http://www.xemacs.org serves validated XHTML 1.0, as stated in the footer of every page (try out that link, to keep xemacs.org honest). The line you quote makes the page valid xml 1.0 as well. Please sepcify the exact browser versions that can't cope with this. I don't recall report about this. The validator page, e.g. http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.xemacs.org%2FDownload%... has a XHTML 1.0 link which takes you right to http://www.w3.org/TR/2000/REC-xhtml1-20000126/ which would be the standard to refer to.
