[Bug: 21.5-b23] Failed assertion when changing font size

Dear Bug Team!
When the font size is changed while a buffer in AUCTeX's LaTeX mode is
displayed, XEmacs aborts with a failed assertion. In order to provoke
this I loaded a LaTeX file and clicked with the mouse on the menu
entry `Options --> Font Size --> a 15'. XEmacs does not abort in
other modes I've tried (like Makefile, Lisp, or Shell mode).
Here is the console output:

Thanks for your response, Ben.
They way I was 'reloading' the file, as I described it was using C-xC-f
(find-file). If the file has changed it prompts if I want to re-read
from disk. So, does this call the revert-buffer function in this case,
or are there some other problems as well?
Also, this doesn't explain why the file is getting saved with the wrong
line endings to start with. I think the problem is before
revert-buffer, that Xemacs has tagged the buffer with the wrong mode,
and revert-buffer is then reloading in the wrong mode.
I found a similar bug, [Bug: 21.5-b22] Cygwin XEmacs forces line-ending
conversion, before sending in mine. I thought at first they were
different, but after playing around a bit more, I think they are the
same.
You asked him if the buffer was marked with a :T on the modeline, but
never got a response (at least there isn't one in the list archive). I
hadn't noticed this marker before, but I see it exists in my old version
of Xemacs as well.
When I reproduce his problem, this is what I get :
- create a new file, it is marked with MSW-MB:T and gets saved with DOS
line endings.
- revert-buffer, the file is still :T and doesn't change
- kill the buffer and reopen the file, it is now MSW-MB (no :T)!
Or, after the first step :
- externall modify the file
- revert-buffer, the :T goes away (but no ^Ms)
>From this point it is the same as my bug. When I open an existing file,
it is not getting the :T. I then save it and it gets Unix line endings.
If I externally change the file and then execute revert-buffer I get the
^Ms on the end of each line, and there is still no :T in the modeline.
So, basically, the problem seems to be both opening an existing file or
reverting a file that has changed the file is not recognized as DOS text
(:T). I only see the :T on a new file or on other internal buffers,
such as scratch, shell, dired, help, etc. However, the file is
initially loaded correctly, but once marked without the :T a revert will
cause the ^Ms to appear.

I try to submit a patch in order that Hebrew.el (without BIDI) is
supported.
I can produce a patch for leim-list.el, but it seems since I don't
have write access to this package I cannot submit Hebrew.el (cvs add
Hebrew.el), and therefore not provide a patch via diff -u >
quail.patch.
how shall I proceed?

I have both Cygwin/Xemacs 21.4.13 and 21.4.18 both installed on the same
box, with the same startup scripts and load-path. In 21.4.13, when I
view a file that wraps to the next line, it shows the little down
curving arrow that I'm used to. When I view the same file in 21.4.18,
it shows an "A umlaut" instead of the arrow. Is there something simple
I'm missing?

I now have both 21.4.13 and 21.4.18 installed on the same box, with the
same load-path values. I can see that this might cause me some problems
down the road, but it makes it real easy to compare the two. The key to
this problem appears to be the interpreter-mode-alist value. On
21.4.13, the default value for this has lots of content, covering
numerous shell script languages. On 21.4.18, this only has "emacs".

Just that I am running a full 64bit environment. For what it is
worth, I have to comment out the
Load "glx"
line in the Modules section in order to get X to start at all.

rendering at 1600x1200 (the native of my lcd screen), so I haven't

[Bug: 21.4.17] Problem with open-network-stream

Dear Bug Team!
Summary: I am unable to use open-network-stream to connect to
localhost on this Linux box. I keep getting errors that look like
this:
"localhost/`~^H& Servname not supported for ai_socktype"
I originally encountered this trying to use the Allegro Common Lisp
emacs interface. I discussed the matter with them, and we narrowed it
down to an xemacs problem, and a new one to me, since I have been
using their interface for several years on Xemacs.
I was able to replicate the error in a minimal way using netcat.
First, I set up a listening port:
nc -l 12000
then I do
(setq foo (open-network-stream "fooproc" nil "localhost" 12000))
and I get the error.
I have checked, and I am able to connect to the listening port, and
send data, using netcat. this suggests to me that this is not just
some dumb firewall problem.
I was able to replicate this error both with the xemacs distributed by
Mandrake with my distro, and with an xemacs that I built myself there,
so I don't believe that it's just Mandrake (Mandriva) not packaging it
correctly, either. But it could be a problem with some library
installed with this distro.
I did what I could to track this down myself, but I'm afraid I got
lost in the C...
