i start xemacs like this
% export DISPLAY=:0
% xemacs -unmapped -f gnuserv-start
% gnuclient -q # the 1st frame is broken anyway...
and so far so good. later i try to open a new frame in a tty (e.g.,
if i connect via ssh over modem to my office box)
% gnuclient -nw
and, as long as xemacs doesn't try to change the windows in the tty
frame, all is well, but if i use some soft (e.g., VM) that messes with
the windows, all sort of breakage occurs
i do not send you a lisp backtrace, as i was not able to get one, as
xemacs is sufficiently confused to do not generate one...
what i'm told are the usual error messages
"Invalid operation: No other window to side of this one"
"Invalid operation: Window height too small (after splitting), 1"
that occured, in similar situations (VM), when using a not too recent
beta in a tty (i mean: no X altogether) --- looks like that the
corrections that were applied to the tty code in that occasion were
not applied to the case in which there is a tty frame _and_ a
connection to a X server

10.28.2003 (NEW YORK CITY) : Thanks to the Vail Film Institute, rights to the music of George and Ira Gershwin is available to independent filmmakers for the price of...well, for a song.
The Gershwin Foundation announced this week a short film contest worthy of its namesake: The Gershwin Showcase, to be presented at the 2004 Vail Film Festival.
George and Ira Gershwin wrote many of the most popular songs of the last hundred years, and selected recordings of these songs, by a mélange of artists, have been released for this short-film contest. Music rights have been granted to allow filmmakers to create short films inspired by, and showcasing the Gershwin tune of their choice.
Following submission to the contest, the films will be reviewed by the Gershwin Showcase Jury, who will bestow perpetual music rights upon the films that meet their approval. Cash awards of over $7,000 will be given to the first- and second-place winners. A shorts program will then be assembled from the best films and given their world premiere at the first Vail Film Festival (April 1-4, 2004 in Vail, Colorado).
"The Gershwin families are very excited to be involved with the inauguration of the Vail Film Festival," says L.J. Strunsky, the Director of Marketing for Gershwin Enterprises. "The fusion of film and music was instrumental in the careers of George and Ira, and in introducing their songs nationally and internationally: We’re just happy to be able to give back to the film industry in some way."
The judging will be based on the integration and use of the music within the film's structure. With the exception of music videos, all genres are accepted. All films must be under eight (8) minutes in length, and must not have been shown publicly prior to April 4, 2004.

Error with html-helper-mode and XEmacs 21.4.10?

Hi -
I'm using XEmacs 21.4.10 along with a copy of html-helper-mode.el -
3.0.4jolly, I believe. I've been using this to (among other things)
font-lock Javascript embedded in HTML, and haven't had any problems for a
while - until I upgraded all my packages to the latest, including
experimentals. Now I'm getting a warning popping up whenever I edit
anything within the <script> tags in HTML:
(1) (warning/warning) Error caught in `font-lock-pre-idle-hook':
(wrong-type-argument stringp nil)
The lisp backtrace is listed below the rest of this email. I'm able to work
just fine in a straight Javascript file, or in the HTML sections of an HTML
file, and it has this error in embedded Javascript whether mmm-mode is
running or not. Any suggestions? At the very least, I'd like to be able to
kill the warning message - it fontifys the file just fine when it initially
opens it, and that's good enough for me. Thanks!

i don't know if calc-2.02g that is now in Emacs CVS must be considered
a new _upstream_ release (DaveG involved?), but, in the best of the
worlds, someone from the packages' crew might have a look at what is

When using XEmacs on Windows XP I have noticed that scrolling with
the scrollbar sometimes hangs XEmacs. It is possible to resolve the
problem by activating another window and then go back to XEmacs.
