Dear Bug Team!
Further to my earlier report "International Character displayed as
octal"
I am now quite convinced that this is a bug in Xemacs for MS Windows.
I can't set a font with a Central European encoding, regardles of
whether I try set-face-font through the command line or whether I type
(set-face-font 'default "Courier New:Regular:10::Central European")
and evaluate the expression in the scratch buffer. Western extended
characters (with umlauts and accents) are displayed correctly, but the
following four characters, if you can see them: =9c =8c =9f =8f
are displayed as octal \234 \214 \237 and \217.
Hope that this information will be helpful in improving Xemacs for MS
Windows.

Hi Paul,
I've tried to reproduce this on my AIX 5.1 box with also the VisualAge
Compiler V6.0. Using the header files mentioned above and an additional
line in configure for aix5, building 21.4.12 as well as 21.5.10 went
fine (with and without the portable dumper). Apart from the fact that I
also got a bunch of warnings telling me that _ALL_SOURCE has been
redefined (only for 21.4.12).
Both versions run ok for me, so I don't know why it doesn't work for you
on AIX 5.1. Are you sure that all the latest OS patches have been
applied? Have you already tried running "lppchk" to check for any
inconsistencies in the installation?

Compiled the latest (01-24-2003) CVS of 21.5.10. Bug in toolbar display is
gone, good. Now there is a bug (not present in 21.5.9) in file open when called
throgh the toolbar icon (toolbar-open). XEmacs crashes when the file to open is
selected.

In the archives, I see lots of places where packages are implementing
their own versions of make-temp-file, I see a note that the patch is
being discussed, but I don't see any discussion of it nor resolution
on it.
