You won't believe this but Send Bug Report under the Help menu is grey'd-out. And M-x report-... gives no match. However I have made some progress. If I put the following into my init.el, I get no c-mode errors. My concern is, I haven't seen this in any other example init file so I would still like to fix my problem rather than accept my work-around. And actually, I may be wrong, but I think Send Bug Report wasn't grey'd-out until I added the following to my init file. And now since emacs actually started without errors, I may have lost whatever dump you were hoping to get from the bug report. I think it is also a good idea to rename md5.el's not in use to md5.el.upstream's to make sure that the ecrypto one is always used. So now that I've actually started using a build without syntax text property support I must say its given a whole new lease of life to my editing experience. Everything is so much snappier, its great! You will have to come up with a pretty compelling alternative in order to pry it away from my cold left pinky... andy

Hi, Because of some build problems I looked into what files there are in packages in CVS and found that I have at least five different md5.el. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ./xemacs-packages/gnus/gnus/lisp/md5.el ./xemacs-packages/w3/lisp/md5.el ./xemacs-packages/ecrypto/md5.el ./unsupported/simon/epop3/md5.el ./unsupported/simon/flim/md5.el ---------------------------------------------------------------------- This doesn't seem to be a good idea. I never ran into any problems when I was on 21.1.xx. But since my hard drive crashed I've been trying to load the latest of everything. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Carlos
