One thing I just noticed is that I forgot the toolbar shadow thickness code
for X in my generic-redisplay based stuff. I really don't want to put
#ifdef HAVE_X11

into the common code. What do people think of adding a new variable
toolbar-shadow-thickness (and also probably toolbar-height and
toolbar-width). And if I add them, should they be specifiers or
DEFVAR_INTs?

[RFC] Keymap for function menu minor mode

Hi, best wishes to everybody !
Upon a user request, I've implemented functions to jump forward and
backward from one function to another in func-menu. Then, I realized that it
would be a good thing to have standardized key bindings for all func-menu
features including this new one.
I ended up re-writing the func-menu interface as a minor mode. Before
checking this in, there's the question of the key bindings. Currently, I have
bound func menu to the `C-c f' prefix. That looked available in my workspace.
Does anybody have something against this ?

Need people to test a new ps-print package

Hi Everyone!
Our current 'ps-print-no-mule' package is quite a bit out of date, and
that's probably putting it politely.
The current upstream version of ps-print (6.5.6) appears to run just
as well for both Mule and non-Mule XEmacsen. So what I'm planning to
do is replace our 'ps-print-no-mule' package with a new 'ps-print'
package.
But before I do that, I'd like to have you guys test the new ps-print
package for me. I haven't had a lot of experience with printing from
XEmacs, predominately because I haven't had a printer up until a few
days ago. :-)
At the moment the new 'ps-print' package is _not_ in CVS, it is only
available as a binary package tarball on ftp.xemacs.org:
/ftp.xemacs.org:/pub/xemacs/beta/experimental/ps-print-0.51-pkg.tar.gz
Install it by:
cd /usr/local/lib/xemacs/xemacs-packages/
tar zxvf /path/to/ps-print-0.51-pkg.tar.gz
re-start XEmacs
I would recommend that you uninstall 'ps-print-no-mule' so it's code
won't shadow the new 'ps-print' code.
Please report back any successes as well as failures and don't forget
to tell me what version of XEmacs you're running (and is it Mule or
not).
I am expecting there to be some problems, but hopefully they will all
be relating to building the package and not the package itself.

I've installed a new xemacs on Windows recently; for Java
editing, JDE looks very nice, but it seems to interfere with
syntax highlighting somehow: when I go to the Options|Syntax
Highlighting menu, the Most level has a bullet and even when I
select Least, the buffer is re-colored with the same colors and
the bullet stays on Most. Syntax-highlighting levels for Perl
(where the default Even More is also rather garish for my taste
:-) ) work right - IMHO Java should work the same.
More generally, should the syntax-highlighting level really be
the same for all buffers I have, independent of their language?
I really would prefer to have different defaults per language...

Porting TLS bindings

I have been trying to port my GNU TLS bindings for Emacs to XEmacs [1]
and most things are trivial, but I don't really grok how to best
connect it into the "lstream" stuff in XEmacs (which Emacs doesn't
seem to have).
I think the best would be if GNU TLS was simply a lstream that could
be used against any underlaying lstream (TCP, process etc) but I'm not
sure it will be possible to implement. (Is it even possible to layer
lstreams?) The GNU TLS library wants as input a file descriptor. I
guess a GNU TLS lstream could create a new file descriptor and hand it
to GNU TLS and then act as a server to that file descriptor, calling
the lstream_* functions in the underlaying lstream to get/receive
data, but this sounds like work and will probably be tricky to debug
and produce complex code.
Another idea is to overload the "network" lstream with GNU TLS
functionality. This is more or less how it works in Emacs.
Does this make sense at all? I guess it might not, since I don't
really understand the design behind "lstream" (and the reason for it
in the first place).
Oh, I forgot to ask, does anyone think native TLS support in XEmacs
would be useful?

Problems redisplaying images with 21.5 GTK.

The procedure:
1) Start the fresh copy of XEmacs 21.5 from CVS
2) Show the "About XEmacs" buffer.
3) Display one of the developer pages (I chose Adrian Aichner's)
4) Kill that developer's buffer
The redisplayed about buffer has the XEmacs logo drawn over the top of the
developer's image. It looks like there are problems with redisplaying images
under GTK because the bitmaps in the modeline from display-time are mangled as
well.
This problem does not occur with the same source if it isn't configured for
GTK.

Dear Bug Team!
when I open a file with .exp extension, xemacs displays the buffer in
Tcl mode (as it should), but doesn't highlight anything. The
minibuffer says "File mode specification error: (void-variable
filladapt-mode)". I'm quite sure syntax highlighting for Tcl worked in
the recent past (before Christmas), but don't really remember what
exactly I've changed since then (I did update prog-modes recently, for
example)...
